I remember once having read something about the seriousness of of intentional venial sins against charity.

What does the Church teach us about this?

Without more information on what you read, only general remarks are possible: Venial sin weakens our relationship with God, making us more vulnerable to mortal sin; but it does not break our relationship with God. Venial sins can be forgiven by a worthy reception of Communion; mortal sins must first be absolved in the sacrament of reconciliation. While confessing venial sins is a good spiritual practice, it is not strictly required. If the matter of a venial sin does not qualify as grave, a venial sin does not morph into a mortal sin by intention alone. I hope some of this answers what you were looking for; if not, feel free to contact the Catholic Answers apologetics staff again.
