Makes you wonder what kind of precedent this may set for those out of the womb.😦
And NONE of the millions upon millions of babies slaughtered by abortion volunteered for that either. 😦 They have no voice, so we MUST be their voice on election day. Obama has already promised that his first act as president will be to pass the freedom of choice act, which will eliminate ALL restrictions on abortion. Meaning: Abortions can happen while a woman is in labor about to give birth to a healthy full term baby, or that a 12 year old can get an abortion without her parents ever knowing, nationwide. Now THAT is a holocaust, against a race of people being targeted only because of their age.:crying: He has also voted every time against the infants born alive act, meaning that he thinks it’s OK for any baby to be left to die without medical care, even if they are perfectly healthy. That is infanticide, pure and simple. In other words: MURDER. There is NO other political issues that makes it okay to murder innocent babies. NONE.

I am quite aware of the numbers of those killed through abortion vs. those of the Iraq war. Teaka, you are not educating the ignorant here.

How does a party justify CHEATING though? Spreading fliers telling the poor that if they show up they’ll be arrested for unpaid parking tickets? Telling people that Tuesday is for voting Republican, and Wednesday for Democrats?

I hate this sort of nonsense – and I know I am a good person – but how do you justify it??? Yes – I get your point, I would LOVE to vote only on pro-life – but does that mean the Republican Party can use/manipulate the pro-life Christian vote??? Obviously they can. :o They don’t care all that much about pro-life, they just want to further themselves. Abortion is STILL legal and 60K people are dead in a war we have no business in.

It’s sick. Seriously. Both sides.

You know what folks?

A LOT OF CATHOLICS ARE VOTING FOR OBAMA.

How sad is that.

A LOT OF CATHOLICS ARE DOING SO TO END THE WAR.

How uninformed of them.

A LOT OF CATHOLICS ARE DOING SO IN THE HOPE THAT THEY CAN KEEP THEIR JOBS, THEIR HOMES AND FEED THEIR CHILDREN.

This doesn’t even make sense.

A LOT OF CATHOLICS KNOW MCCAIN IS NOT SERIOUSLY PRO-LIFE.

Really? So their rationale is to vote for the one is seriously pro-choice?

Just sayin’. Just informing. Just lettin’ you know. This is what I am listening to other’s saying. You shouldn’t take it personally.

I know it’s hard for some of you to understand, but the bashing or angst over Catholics voting for Barack on Family Life or Parenting is really frustrating and saddening me.

I am not discussing politics further, I just wanted to state the obvious.

Furthermore I think it’s really sad that Barack Obama’s grandmother died today 😦 . I am saying a prayer for the repose of her soul. :signofcross: What a shame, the day before the election at that.

One more day, just one more day and this will be over. sigh

God Bless.

oh brother…“sigh” is right./QUOTE]

Yeah, well tell that to all the people we have freed in Iraq who have voted, many at the risk of their lives. Particularly tell that to the people in this country that are whining because they have to wait in a long line.

Of course you could vote for the pro-choice candidate who also spent 20 years in a church where hate was being spewed. But hey, at least you wouldn’t be helping those Republicans manipulate the Christian vote.

Grow up.

I’m sure that people that don’t agree with me could very well be grown ups.

How does a party justify CHEATING though? Spreading fliers telling the poor that if they show up they’ll be arrested for unpaid parking tickets? Telling people that Tuesday is for voting Republican, and Wednesday for Democrats?
KC I do not want to go back and forth and nit pick about this, because we can find fault in both parties for many things, I will give you that.

BUT

If you are going to accuse one part of cheating, please do not do it while looking back at the other party with rose colored glasses on. As someone who works HEAVILY and daily in the disabled community, specifically with autistic children, teens and adults, I can tell you there are many, maybe as many as 20, cases I have heard of LOCALLY, meaning in the greater Milwaukee area, in the past week or so, of disabled teens and adults in adult day centers, by democratic campaigners, telling them they had to vote for O or else…any number of things…they won’t be able to go to school because McCain will take their busing away, they won’t be able to keep their jobs because Mc Cain wants to give their jobs to other people…you name it. All the way down to register as a democrat because all other disabled people do., or if you don’t register to vote you can go to jail.

I’m just sayin…

I work, indirectly, for the government for an agency that is paid with Medicaid funds, so I’m well aware of the political shenanigans that go on, and believe me it runs both ways.

Oh my gosh…where do you hear this garbage? Not even Democrats are that uninformed.

Not only do you need to grow up – you need to WAKE UP.

I posted links to what? Only four or five states? Saying the same thing: republicans are pulling some cheap tactics to stop democratic votes.

How do you know WHO I am voting for anyway? I haven’t said ANYTHING other than get out of your little bubble and understand WHY people are voting outside of your view.

Goodnight people, wake up.

Quit acting all snotty and condescending – it only makes this cheating BS seem all that much more plausible.

“Not even Democrats are that uninformed.” Well yeah, apparently they ARE, otherwise they wouldn’t be prayed upon this way.

I care about all of humanity and this is why your IGNORANT view is disturbing to me.

You have no idea who I am voting for – you are just assuming.

OH and FURTHERMORE I am a military wife, with an active duty husband… I can quite frankly state how WE feel about the WAR – as military – since it affects us DIRECTLY.

KC I do not want to go back and forth and nit pick about this, because we can find fault in both parties for many things, I will give you that.

Yes, your point is well taken. I have seen some democratic nonsense too (today on local conservative radio a kid called in to say he went to someone’s house for trick or treating and the lady said she would only give candy to kids who’s parents are voting for Obama:mad: so the kids lied about it because she had good candy 😃 )–but … and following politics as closely as I have, I have to say Republicans run the roost on cheating and underhand tactics. 😃

Either way: it makes me equally mad and sad.

I think what the GOP has done the last three or four elections in impoverished neighborhoods is a SHAME. Telling people they will be imprisoned, arrested, or that the day they should vote is Wednesday – that’s cheap dude, that’s cheap.

The DNC is also **** in acting like fund-raising is a do-all end-all who try to raise money for the party.

Surely you can step out of your pro-life-only-cause long enough to say “yeah that really is underhanded.”

Either way I am sad/irritated/shocked about it all.😦

War is horrible. I agree with that KC Mommy. I have no idea what you are going through.
Nor do I know what it is like to be Jesus, looking at the doctor mutilate the baby in the womb. Or Jesus looking at the soldier at war missing his family, suffering blows, and many dying horrible painful deaths. Leaving family behind.

I am not for war, unless there is a just cause. And, even then it’s not optimal for any christian to desire.

I do know, that there is a war we think does not effect families. We think abortion does not effect people life-long. We need to re- think this, maybe as much as we need to stop thinking that someone who God willed to be created is not important until they can defend themselves from violence.
I know you feel republicans can not stop abortion. You are right.
At least with McCain, he will leave this up to the states, which will decide for themselves. We of course could argue this all day long, and never agree and that is fine.

We all need to realize what is defendable and what is defenseless.

Hey girl, I haven’t stated my political party or my vote. I TOTALLY understand what you are saying and I am so pro-life. You have no idea. I take up my pro-life cause* in action* at the other end of pregnancy – with birth choices and lactivism (but you would have to know me better on this site to even know what I am talking about) and I appreciate my Christian brothers and sisters in their gallant and out-spoken efforts on the pro-life spectrum end of stopping abortion.

I just want you to understand what it is I am saying: voting for GOP this go-around wont stop abortion, and a lot of catholics realize it. The GOP is alienating people with underhanded tactics – because not only should we defend the defenseless in the womb, we must defend the defenseless that are here and now. That means fliering to the ignorant that they’ll be arrested if they vote is intrinsically evil. Just like the good samaritin we have responsibility – to EVERYONE – not just the unborn.

I am very frustrated with this vote. Personally I am. As a mother. As a woman who recently faced a fellow catholic who had a late term abortion and tried to have me justify it and I wouldn’t. As a military wife. As someone who follows politics in the USA very closely. As a thinking human being.

I just wish we wouldn’t be so black-and-white and would actually THINK about what we are saying here rather than assuming the best or worse of people because they happen to display who they plan to vote for.🤷

It’s a lose-lose, really.

and following politics as closely as I have, I have to say Republicans run the roost on cheating and underhand tactics.
Well one thin I would give the benefit of the doubt to when it comes to both parties, is that who they have ‘helping’ them, is many times questionable. I mean, they get a lot of yay hoots to do the dirty work of roaming the streets, going door to door, etc, and I would be surprised if the candidates or even higherups in the campaigns, endorse or even know what is going down out there. They SHOULD, but they don’t always. As for who does more what, there is what is reported, and what is reality. In all likely hood it’s probably more than we hear about all around in the MSM.
I think what the GOP has done the last three or four elections in impoverished neighborhoods is a SHAME. Telling people they will be imprisoned, arrested, or that the day they should vote is Wednesday – that’s cheap dude, that’s cheap.
Cheap indeed.😦
Surely you can step out of your pro-life-only-cause long enough to say “yeah that really is underhanded.”
it is underhanded, but pro-life is not MY cause, by any stretch. It should be everyone’s.

KC I totally get the military thing too, by little brother is going back to Iraq for another 18 months, so believe me I see where u r coming from. But, there is little disagreement among troops over there that they are doing some good things. They believe that, and live it daily. I’m not sure why we don’t listen more to the folks over there, rather than projecting. Whether anyone thinks we never belonged in Iraq, we are there now, and can’t leave people hanging. And did Obama not say he would leave 50k or so non combat troops in Iraq? Those are the guys who end up getting killed anyway…

Difference between my brother getting killed and an unborn baby getting killed is that my brother got to live his life, and choose to go into the Army. No, he doesn’t want to die, but dying for someone, or something even if you don’t agree with it totally, is a lot different than being murdered.

Nuff said about that. I am curious though as to why you say republicans don’t care at all about pro-life? While I agree there are failings, there have been some major chips in the block lo these many years. Something as entrenched in the American way of life as abortion on demand cannot be expected to disappear overnight.

And now I’m going to bed. I have 27 people to transport to poling places tomorrow, so I need my beauty rest.😃

OK Shanny (sorry to hijack) but here are my thoughts:

Let’s look at Roe V Wade. It’s been in law for about forty years right? Since then every single state, much-less the Supreme Court has established further laws on it’s merits in regards to the constitution. Also to each state’s constitution. A large portion of law has branched off the decision of Roe vs Wade. The beneficiaries are NOT ONLY the democratic party and it’s stance of a woman’s right to choose, but the GOP as well, even if they say they want the woman’s right to choose rescinded (the previous sentence sends people running to the polls though – and part of it is failed feminism, part of it something you and I cannot even begin to comprehend) Enough of the GOP want’s RvW in place that they don’t push as hard as they promise the Christian voter they will because they also depend on the off-shoots of this case-law. BOTH parties depend on Roe v. Wade on issues you and I can’t even begin to fathom as beneficial to either party – but it DOES.

Yes, Bush placed conservative justices on the bench but nothing has changed. Why does this seem to be such a huge piece of ignorance in the voting public? Seriously – it just proves my point above. Will or can they change Roe v Wade? We all suspect yes, but will they? Really?

My thought is this: instead of voting “in hopes of” we – as catholic individuals – help lobby and enact a provision in this country that adoption is not so difficult or expensive therefor people are not “forced” to adopt children from over-seas-- and can make it easier on young women to actually choose to give their baby to a family who will love them and raise them. Another therefor: young women are more apt to carry a child to term to give them to a loving family who can love and care for them even if they dont make 200K a year. That women are forced to go through counseling and screening prior to said abortion in order to validate that their reasons might actually be justified (99.9% of the time it’s not) The pressure of these choices on the family – that they are actually responsible and not the government – will help tremendously.

NEITHER PARTY IS OFFERING THIS SOLUTION. The democrats are just spouting choice, the republicans are saying “oh we’ll handle it really, we will, eventually, but if you vote for us you’re that much closer.” No, we’re not. They are more concerned with other things than what the  catholic voter holds dear.

It just cheeses me off. Really. Especially in the blind ignorance of you “must vote pro-life” that our church asks – but there is no dang pro-life candidate!!!

We have to be pro-active – we have to! On the local level first. Only there (and I am not talking about scaring the **** out of kids and acting crazy in front of abortion clinics) will we accomplish anything.

Note to all – please stop attempting to inform me of what goes on in an abortion. I have seen it first hand, maybe more than most of you. I worked for a company who rented medical lasers to hospitals. One day we got a tool per a doctor’s request (and not for abortions) that not only obliterates kidney stones and other stones but obliterates pregnancy as well. I am saying I have NEVER been more horrified in my life than to learn that this little tubal, electrically driven tool with a claw on the end could spin around in utero and kill a baby.😦 HORRIFIED. If they would just demonstrate this tool in action in front of young women we could stop abortion by probably half.

I am VERY pro-life. Sadly, neither candidate is.😦

WHAT?

I didn’t mean anything but the purpose of the parable:

As Christians we have the duty to help EVERYONE who needs help. To do so without prejudice. Be they different of race, religion, creed, born, unborn, in the US: republican or democrat –

There is no scripture in the bible (save one argumentable passage) *directly *regarding abortion.

Are you trying to set me up? Or simply looking for answers?

PS KC Mommy, you must not read the bible very much to only see ONE passage that relates to the sanctity of the life in the womb.

If you condescend to take into account what I was actually saying – along with the parable:
On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?” He answered: " ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’" “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.” But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” In reply Jesus said: (the parable starts here) "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two silver coins and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’ “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?” The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him." Jesus told him, "Go and do likewise.”
You will see I am talking about the attitude of the people who can only think in one way. A Jew passed up a Jew who needed his help, and he did so out of ignorance – but the Samaritan stopped to help. The parable is about TOLERANCE.

I did not say ONLY – I said we have responsibility to EVERYONE – not just the unborn – as you so graciously pointed out and quoted. Isn’t it interesting how you try and twist my words on neglect to the unborn? Even though I did not exclude the unborn at all but included them? The unborn are just as important to the “born” (in your words – not mine) but the BORN are just as important as the unborn. How can you rationalize otherwise?

Furthermore – don’t confuse (or try to persuade such argument off the beaten path) my statement about there being only one questionable statement specifically about abortion in the bible with “sanctity of life.” Is it one in the same? Sure, when we are talking about abortion- but that wasn’t the point of every entry in the bible where you can quote “sanctity of life.”

Can I remind you we are not sola scriptura? Are you new to the Catholic Faith?

Arghhhhh twists and turns and manipulations: this is what my church is made of? No, it’s not. I know that, but this is what makes me so frustrated.

If Republicans are only being pro-life to get our votes and not out of conviction, then let them. Considering the bloodshed, I’ll take what I can get.

If you think that there will be more abortions under McCain’s administration, then by all means, vote for Obama – who will ensure that anyone who wants an abortion can have it paid for by taxpayers up to the moment of natural birth of the child. And if the abortion doesn’t work, they can throw the baby in the laundry room until it dies.

There is no issue equivalent in importance to the killing of 4,000 babies that goes on every day in the USA. They didn’t enlist in the army and volunteer to risk their lives. They didn’t ruin the economy or cause your home to be foreclosed. They don’t care about the cost of groceries or if you can’t afford to keep your cable TV turned on. Our problems are so small considering the gravity of what abortion is. If you and your 4 best friends knew that 1 of you would be killed soon, you wouldn’t care about those other issues as much.

Vote pro-life, even if the candidate is distasteful to you.

Again, You don’t answer me.
The good samaritan, never helped an unborn person.
You print one version, of the good samaritan and in no commentary do I see anyone believing the unborn is literally mentioned here.

You also stated:

“There is no scripture in the bible (save one argumentable passage) directly regarding abortion.”

I guess to question your personal authority is frustrating for you. Most people call it, “apologetics”.
Not, the source of frustration.

I am quite aware of the numbers of those killed through abortion vs. those of the Iraq war. Teaka, you are not educating the ignorant here.
I know that, but obviously those people who are voting that way are uninformed. My question is: why are we so worried about what is going in another country when then there is a massacre right here within our borders? These people are so upset that people are being killed over there, what about the people being killed right here? I just don’t get that point of view. Have any of them explained it to you? How stopping a lesser evil (a few thousand dead) is somehow morally superior to stopping a greater evil right here in our own backyards (millions and millions of dead)? I can not grasp the idea of how anyone can think they are doing good by voting for increased abortion.
