Okay I have not read anywhere in the bible that says that I have to be catholic. I realize that as a catholic you believe that your church is the true church and yadayadayada…but since I do not (still keeping an open mind) that passage about doing this in rememberance of me has nothing to do with why you HAVE to go to mass and not a church service. As far as being offered the body of Christ at every service, every Sunday the church that I currently attend (but not a member) has it before the service in a special room. All are welcome to partake if they feels so inclined. My problem has always been that organized religion places rules that are a misinterpretation of God’s word. I could be wrong.

Actually, I have heard others who have convictions about “organized religion” but It was Christ who in fact organized His Church and that is Biblical.

mmplps, sometimes in trying to help others learn, a person (some of us) can get too deeply into the things that require strength in faith without recognizing that strength comes from knowledge and supports the faith we have. If we seem to bring more to the “table” than what you can understand, its because you haven’t really had the chance to learn enough to understand at that point and maybe we forgot that. We must remember to be patient just as you when it comes to learning. Don’t let that slow you down from your search.

Mass is necessary because we must worship God on Sundays. Protestant services do not have worship, they only have praise.

Worship involves a Sacrifice. Look to the old testament. Wasn’t there a sacrifice at every moment of worship? Pages and pages of Scripture are devoted to the proper sacrifices.

Christ is our perfect sacrifice. On the Cross He became the one sacrifice we need for all time.

That same sacrifice is repeated, re-presented, on the Catholic altar each Mass. You have to realize that Catholics don’t believe God has to act in time, all times are present to Him. By His grace Christ’s Sacrifice is re-presented in an unbloody manner on the altar. Since protestant services do not have this, they do not fulfill our requirement to worship God on Sundays.

Protestant services have singing and reading and teaching, but they lack sacrifice.
