I suppose it’s the nature of the immortality I care about. At what cost? What exactly is it one plans to do with immortality? Just live a relatively comfortable lifestyle like the vampires in Twilight? Or just use the time to run away from the unknown, while pursuing a hedonistic lifestyle?
What about pure knowledge? I mean, you gotta wonder why using immortality to observe mankind’s growth isn’t a fully popularized concept. I mean that’s sure as heck what I’d do. And when you think about it, it’s really on the price of immortality that we start talking ethics. It tells you something about our religion that we never condemned the very possession of infinite earthly life.
Jehnna: I suppose nothing hurts you.
Conan: Only pain.

😛
👍

I’m not sure I understood what you stated completely, but my response 😃

Well, the growth of knowledge is kind of a given for immortals. How much more does an immortal vampire want to study? Is pursuing knowledge their “art?” All art, of all disciplines is only meant to point toward truth (ie. Catholicism :D), and without using it to help others, the pursuit is merely creative masturbation. (was that from oreimo?)

For Catholics, it’s the quality of our earthly life, not necessarily the longevity of it 🙂 St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Joan of Arc, 👍

I think someone that endeavors achieving immortality before heaven is subjecting themselves into experiencing a prolonged purgatory or hell. If they can’t make anything good of it, and maintaining an immortal life means eating people, may as well walk into the sunlight. A natural immortality (ex. Elves from LotR, is something else, though).

A theory, but what I think hell might be is, is like how Earth is now, except everyone’s immortal, and there’s no Catholics around to stop them, their only company being demons.

What do you think of the movie and or book “Interview with the Vampire?”
Bad movie even worse book. I like things on the less serious side. If you want a good read you might try the Southern Vampire Mysteries. written by Charlaine Harris. True Blood is based on the books but only the first season resemblies the books in any way the series has good in a different direction then the original books but I find both entertaining. It’s not Twiliight by any means its very adult material just be forewarned.

I always thought that Anne Rice has an amazing imagination but is a terrible writer. I find her novels tedious and sometimes downright exhausting to read. There are homosexual and pedophile elements which are annoying to trudge through.

As far as vampires go, hers are pretty good but nothing beats the traditional Slavic monsters of the old myths. Nothing romantic, just smelly undead killers.
