Teaching catechism and sponsoring people in R.C.I.A. has been the best way to learn the things I missed. “I don’t know but I’ll go find out” has become my mantra and has helped others trust the information. Asking others or consulting the catechism has been enlightening.

Many of the best teachers have had learning problems. Who better to learn from than someone who struggled in their own learning. Insight must be very strong in such a teacher.

I am a “kinesthetic learner” so teaching has strengthened my knowledge and faith as well.

Oh my goodness, I thought I was losing my mind, I posted a reply not knowing that you created a duplicate thread, i.e., I couldn’t find my post on THIS thread.
No. I didn’t realize it had duplicated until just now and saw them listed together. I am terribly sorry. Is there a way to delete the other thread? I looked and couldn’t find a delete option in the editor.

This bothers me greatly. It is so difficult for Protestants to come to Christ’s Church to begin with, let alone having to deal with apathetic Catholics that seem to be disinterested in their conversion, especially when they WANT it! It’s sad you have been bouncing back and forth to many denoms.
They don’t see you for the precious gems that you are, and that is a shame. Protestant converts by and large have great zeal. Couple that zeal with Catholic Truth and you have some true blue fired up disciples.
Please do not let this apathy rub off on you or hinder your journey. I would have hoped they would have given you a conditional baptism, since you felt that your baptism as a child was questionable.
Satan has done a good job convincing Catholics to not evangelize our lost Christian brethren who are full of fire for Christ, but sadly, little else, especially truth and sound doctrine. I think Satan knows that if these people started entering the Church and started injecting their fire into the Church, he is gonna have his hands full. It grieves my heart and makes me cringe whenever I am talking to atheists and when they find out I’m Catholic, they many times say, “Ohhhhh, I love Catholics…you guys don’t preach.” Kills me…but then I kill their stereotype…hehe….
Perhaps, what the Atheists meant is that we are not “preachy”, i.e., we evangelize in ways that are subtler than our Protestant brothers and sisters. But at the same time, I acknowledge that not enough Catholics are spreading the truth, and that’s why it is wonderful to have converts from differing denominations, i.e., they are so passionate about their faith.

p.s. I’m a cradle Catholic who loves her faith and tries to talk about it as much as she can to others who are not Catholic.

I have heard that the best way to learn is to teach. As a matter of fact, I believe it was my favorite priest (who went to India shortly after I ‘confessed’ some of my sordid spiritual background) who said it but I did not put it with my RCIA experience back then. I am building quite a library of helpful books that might serve to help someone else one day. I don’t feel I am in a place to help someone else though , except perhaps through prayer. I cannot even get myself out the door to mass yet because of my bothersome anxiety and other things happening. I am determined to persevere though.
Thanks for the word of encouragement. I will continue to pray about it and if it should be God’s will, then it will make itself known, right? I have to trust in that.

I think you can ask the mods to get rid of the duplicate thread. I think sending a message to any moderator, for example, Robert Bay or Eric Hilbert will ensure that it will be dealt with.
If you wish I can do it for you. And no need to apologize, I just experienced a moment of panic/alarm before I realized there had to be a duplicate thread. 😃

I don’t know how that happened, my computer was doing someodd thing last night so I suppose I will blame that.🤷

Yes, that would be lovely and thanks (about messaging the mods). I appreciate it very much. I saw your response and to be honest, I remember i was dunked in a big bathtub and had to change clothes after. As to form, I assume it was “In the Name of the father, Son, and Holy Spirit” but really have no idea. I was nine. I’m quite a bit older now 😃 The memory’s not what it used to be. The Church accepted it so I suppose I have to trust in that.

Is that a way of discerning the Holy Spirit’s guidance in our lives?
Actually, it very often is. When you open yourself to God’s will, things will come to you that you didn’t expect and doors will open and you’ll be drawn in. You will have a sense of peace, even when you experienced fear at first.
I must confess to having suffered quite a bit of confusion and a sense of having no direction up til now. I think that seeming lack of direction/guidance contributed to my having engaged in more than my fair share of spiritual kite flying.
Well, remember, when Jesus called the Apostles, they didn’t have a clue. Yet, they became the one’s to build his Church.

Like I said, you have to pray about it. It may not be were God is leading you, but instead, some other direction which is connected to your experience in RCIA, even though it was negative.

God Bless
Jim
