Do you think we’ll hear about this at NBC or read about it in the New York Times? The Pill has caused irreparable damage to women, children, the family and society at large. But, as a people, we love our “magic pill” that gives us the illusion of sex without consequences.

Back some years ago, Rush Limbaugh did a brief segment about elephants in Kruger National Park, South Africa. It’s an embarrassing little event that didn’t get much press aside from Limbaugh. And even Rush never seemed to understand the implications fully. He merely used it to slap silly liberals for thinking they could solve every environmental problem.

So what happened? They used contraception (the elephant equivalent of "the pill") to "control" elephant populations that were considered too high but had to stop the experiment abruptly because of the disastrous effects upon elephant society (and humans in the area!) including: 1) starving baby elephants because the mothers abandoned them in search of mates and because of #2, 2) Out of control male elephants that were obsessed with perpetually sexually available females (males that were also more dangerous to humans as a result, by the way).
Sound similar to human society?

However, fortunately, the elephants in this case had objective observers available to pull the plug when it was obvious that the experiment was a disaster. Humans are not so lucky. We are both the subject and the scientist. I suspect if we could communicate with the male elephants especially, they might have said, "Hey, wait a minute! What are you doing? We LOVE this stuff!" Just as their human counterparts do while society continues to disintegrate.
Guess who wrote this:

“The abandonment of the reproductive function is the common feature of all perversions. We actually describe a sexual activity as perverse if it has given up the aim of reproduction and pursues the attainment of pleasure as an aim independent of it.”

Psychiatrist Sigmund Freud

Imagine that.

Sadly, The West has by and large become a society of drug addicts - whether the drug is consumed or self-induced (endorphins, adrenaline, etc.): Cocaine. Alcohol. Shopping. Entertainment. Gambling. Sex. Whatever gives us a “rush”. Another more traditional, Catholic name for these addictions might simply be idolatry.

The Bible talks about setting prisoners free.

In 1968, the solution to Humanae Vitae which clearly warned that people would value the love of their life less if they used contraception, was to send in the colorfully dressed Hippies. “Free love!” “Down with the Establishment!” “Don’t trust anyone over 30.” And “I don’t need no piece of paper to live with my old lady.” It was all there.

The Sale of Millions of birth control pills was at risk if Catholics listened to the Pope.

Then, send in the National Organization for Women in the 1970s to spread fear, suspicion and mistrust among women against the eternal enemy - men. Which just laid the groundwork for…

No-Fault Divorce in 1980s. No kids? $75 and you’re out. And then you were told you were free! F R E E of that altar commitment before man and God. It didn’t really matter anymore. God forbid.

And let’s not forget all those so-called Adult Bookstores opening up in the 1970s, porn on cable in the 80s and porn on the internet in the 90s and Adult Language and Partial Nudity on NYPD Blue. Throw in some so-called Shock Jocks. Some cussin’ and swearin’ on rap records. Got the picture?

My brothers and sisters in Christ – We Were Lied To. Deceived by some “experts.”

Thank God this man came forward. The truth will set you free.

Peace,
ED

Cardinal Christoph Schonborn, told an interviewer that the Vatican had forecast 40 years ago that the pill would lead to a dramatic fall in the birth rate in the west.
“Somebody above suspicion like Carl Djerassi … is saying that each family has to produce three children to maintain population levels, but we’re far away from that,” he said.
Schonborn told Austrian TV that when he first read Pope Paul VI’s 1968 encyclical condemning artificial contraception he viewed it negatively as a “cold shower.” But he said he had altered his views as, over time, it had proved "prophetic."
I wonder how many other priests, esp. Church leaders this applies to. I remember in the early 70s priests were telling women it was a matter of conscience, not a grave sin. How many Catholic marriages have failed because of this,

By the way, for anyone who may want to use it, here is the citation for that quote I provided from Sigmund Freud:

Freud. Introductory Lectures on Psychoanalysis.Norton, 1966. p 317.

“The abandonment of the reproductive function is the common feature of all perversions. We actually describe a sexual activity as perverse if it has given up the aim of reproduction and pursues the attainment of pleasure as an aim independent of it.”

I heard a priest on Catholic Radio talking about this. It appears that there was dissent inside the Church and seminarians were given this vague teaching. I pray things change since God desires all of us to live holy lives. It is for our own good here as well as in the afterlife.

Peace,
Ed
