I know your interest in history and came across this article. It appears the Swedes went through a momentary Lutheran antipathy toward bishops just like Martin Luther but never quite fell out of apostolic succession, not that it matters to Roman Catholics:

I always saw fliers inviting everyone to take Communion at Episcopalian service. One member invited me but I politely declined because to me it is not “true” communion.

I had trouble explaining this to the woman who invited me.

1 - is it wrong to take non-catholic communion?
2 - How do you explain this to someone when they invite you?
I have taken it anyway, but I’m on my way out of Catholicism.
