The ‘Little Sisters of Jesus’ in Baghdad have spoken to people who survived the 31 October carnage at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. They share their stories in a letter that we are publishing in full.

I was shocked that there wasn’t more media coverage as over 50 people died, and over 70 were injured while celebrating Sunday Mass at Our Lady of Salvation Catholic Cathedral. The information is vary scattered, but there is a very good documentary that summarizes the events (used in a memorial service by a Catholic Church in U.S.):

Here are a couple news stories on the event (you have to do quite a bit of searching to find articles covering everything in the documentary above):
nytimes.com/2010/11/08/world/middleeast/08baghdad.html
bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-11463544

If you’re not familiar with the Eastern Catholic Rites, there are Catholics in the Middle East, and this church is a legitimate Catholic Church recognized by the Vatican (there’s actually a section on Eastern Catholics in this site).

I very much agree that this horrendous tragedy (and its implications for the world) should have received much more attention.

The mainstream media refuses to give us the real news of the world. Its main priority seems to be giving us daily updates on the exploits of Lindsay Lohan.

Thank you for helping to get the word out. Everyone needs to be aware of what’s happening out there. Keep your eyes open.
