“But the souls of the just are in the hand of God, and the torment of death shall not touch them.” (Wisdom 3, 1)

My initial reaction was profound sadness at the sacrilegious attack on and murder of a Catholic prelate, and I offer condolences to our Chaldean Catholic brethren.

Now it is one of prayers for the conversion of the Muslims (true martyrs die blessing and forgiving their persecutors), and for vocations to the Chaldean Catholic Church.

Glory to you Lord Jesus. May your servants, Mar Paulos, Abouna Ragheed, and all the deacons and martyr’s of the Christian faith be with you in everlasting life.

I cannot add more but, “All you Iraqi Martyrs pray for us that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ!”

May Almighty God grant rest to his soul. And may the Martyrs and Saints of all ages go to greet him at the gate of paradise.

May the perpetual light shine upon him. Amen

Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner.

May his soul find Peace in the bosom of Christ, and may he pray always for his murderers!

Lord, welcome the newest Saint, who prays for us as well as his captors, that You will bring good from every evil. Amen, Alleluia!

Eternal rest grant them, O Lord. Receive Your servants into Your Kingdom.

May the Archbishop and his aides be canonized. They are models of sacrifice for the world.

With the souls of the Just brought to perfection, * give rest, O Savior, to the soul of your servant,* keeping him for the blessed life with You, * for You love mankind.

In the place of rest which is Yours, O Lord,* where all Your Saints repose, * give rest to the soul of Your servant,* for You alone love mankind.

Glory be to the Father, * and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: * You are the God Who descended into the realm of Death * and ended the sorrow of the captives; * give rest, also, to the soul of Your servant, O Lord.

Now and ever ,* and forever. Amen.* O Virgin, the only pure and immaculate, * you gave birth to God. * Intercede for the salvation of the soul of your servant.

Hieromartyr Paulos, Pray for us!

Po18guy: that photo is great… very human.

It is gratifying how the mainstream media have jumped on this story and are helping to keep it the public view. Especially in the USA.

A search of CNN, Fox News and MSNBC turned up precisely ZERO stories.

Prayers for the Bishop. :signofcross:
Typical of the secular US media.

The more I see this the more I think Islam is the beast in the book revelation.

Unfortunately you seem to be right about CNN. However, I did find it on Foxnews:

Fox news

and MSNBC:

msnbc.msn.com/id/23409037/

though Foxnews seems to have the latest information.

May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

I am reading this thread at my desk at work and fighting back tears. God embrace this new martyr. He looks familiar somehow. My prayers are with him in the Communion of Saints. Amen.

It was from the BBC news article on the story. What a blessed and loving servant of God! Now, we behold the newest Saint who prays for us in our struggles. The Lord’s hand was in this entire event and, one day, we shall see the perfection of it.

Christ’s peace be always with you.

I’m trying to fight back tears as well… May the soul of the Archbishop and all those suffering and have died in Iraq find eternal rest with the Lord.

Warmest regards,
-JL
