A Catholic wave has come crashing down on the Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny. In Dublin, 100,000 postcards were sent to the head of government in protest at the closure of the Irish Embassy to the Holy See. Two months ago, Ireland downgraded its representation in the Holy See from resident to non-resident.

12 Postcards were sent off on behalf of my own family - hopefull they will reverse the decision! 👍

I love Irish Catholics. :’)
God bless all of you, I will be praying for Ireland.

Irish Catholic seems redundant 😃
Been to Northern Ireland lately?

My prediction: The postcards will be ignored, and the next election will re-instate elected politicians who supported shutting down the Vatican Embassy, :sad_yes:

It is humbling to see that despite being the victims of such horrid abuse Irish Catholics are able to continue backing the Church. I can only hope that in the face of such adversity I would continue to do the same.

I love the idea of postcards. What a great idea!

Hmm… Got me thinking.

Oh yeah! Postcards!:newidea: Didn’t we all send postcards to the Administration when Obama first became President? I know it was for a life issue, but ugh…I am struggling to remember here! I do know that I got my entire parish to send in post cards…we sent several thousand of them. We had a large “postcard” campaign. It was awesome…but don’t know how much good it really did.

“Individual bishops are not obligated to respond to the bishops’ conferences, nor are they accountable to any layman. They are accountable only to the Pope.

“Thus, the Conference of Bishops could not impose the Framework Document on the individual bishops, and this is a weakness in Church governance.
Sorry Mr Jesuit. It’s worked for two thousand years.

Quite frankly I don’t see why, for talking’s sake, the Archbishop of Boston has any right to interfere in the diocese of the Bishop of Orlando on the basis of a Bishops’ Conference. No more than, say, Russia imposing economic reforms on Spain.

They’ve never been interchangeable. Protestant Irishman, even the likes of Carson himself, would have had a fit at the mere suggestion that they were any less an Irishman for being a Protestant.

Thanks for alerting me to this, I did not know anything about it. I’ve ordered several for my family and will send too.
