So right on the heels of the signing of the Civil Partnerships bill into law, the Irish government is pushing a program to support “diversity” in Ireland, particularly in the more Catholic parts, like rural areas. Why are governments in the western world so keen to promote homosexuality? I just don’t get it. Everyone should be able to live their life free from harassment, but why the desperate push by governments to make homosexuality equal to heterosexuality?

I cannot speak for Ireland as I have never lived there. No doubt each Western country has its own historic motivations for acting as they do.

In general, though, I’d say the West has made an idol of “personal freedom” and the ultimate in such freedom is “nonreproductive sexuality.” Getting rid of all consequences and constraints in personal behavior, including those imposed by nature, is the goal.

But this forgets that some constraints are necessary to make human life work. If the pedals are “freed” from the chain, the bicycle just won’t go.
