I have a small medallion from the Vatican that was blessed by Pope John Paul II. It bears his image on the obverse side and an image of the Blessed Mother and Holy Child on the reverse. Around that image is some Latin that is not legible to me.

Is this considered a Holy Relic of the Third Class?

OK. Your thread question is one thing.
Then, at the end of your post you ask a totally different question. 🤷
So, I take back my poll answer because you don’t give enough information.
In order for this to be a third class relic we would have to know if it had be touched to a 1st or second class relic, which you do not disclose.

Things that are blessed in general audiences in great number or in big lots in gift shops are not relics. They are a blessed sacramental.
Different. But completely fine and good to own.

A relic has to do with the saint DIRECTLY. As in part of the saint ( apiece of bone, a lock of hair, etc…for First class.)
Second class would be a something that was used by the Saint.
Third class is something that has been touched to either a first class or a second class.

Peace.

^^ This. An item blessed by a saint doesn’t make it a relic, per se. That’s not to say it can’t still be an item of devotion, it just doesn’t fall under the classic definition.

Why are you so hostile? My question was very clear.

“Peace” you say? Hardly, in your case. It might be a good time for you to read the rules of civility before posting again, or better yet, if you have nothing positive to contribute, then don’t.

Thank you for the clear, friendly answer. God Bless!

No it would not be. But wonderfully it is blessed (by soon to be Saint).

I’m sorry you took offense. My post is not hostile. The questions you posed are different, with different details. Re-read what you write before you post, that’s all.

Peace.
