I don’t believe people have to believe the muslims are all fanatics to dislike Islam.
I cannot ‘dislike’ Islam. I honestly dislike perverse mutations of Christianity such as Westboro Baptist more. It’s just my personal taste

It may be strange but I don’t know a single person of the Jewish faith but I know loads of Muslims. Not one of them has ever scared me
I have no problems in dealing with individual Muslims.

I just disagree with the tenets of Islam.

That is not the same as being afraid of Muslims.

What God did Abraham, Moses and David worship? They did not believe in a Triune God.
That is correct. Many Christians also deny the trinity. For example, Mormons, Apostolic Pentacostalists (like Kim Davis), Jehovah’s Witnesses, some Quakers, probably others I am not thinking of.

Unitarians come to mind.

Absolutely not.

Islam is a false religion made my a demonically-possessed psychopath. Muslims do not worship the same God. For that matter, neither do Jews-- they deny the Son and the Holy Ghost. God has revealed Himself as a triune God, and you can’t worship one of the three Divine Persons to the exclusion of the other two. It does not work that way.

Jews are less scary than Muslims thus they must worship the same God.

It’s simple. 😉
Judaism has recognized for ages that Muslims worship the same G-d as Jews do. It took a little longer for Judaism to recognize that Christians also worship the same G-d. (Some Jews still do not believe so.)

LOL

Islam is NOT the “faith of Abraham”, it is a seventh-century heresy.

And yes, that is correct. If your family members are not worshipping the + Father, Son and Holy Spirit, they are not worshiping God. Keep in mind Catholicism is the fulfillment of Judaism. Technically speaking, the “true” Jewish faith ceased to exist at Pentecost.

Why does the Catechism seem to not agree with your position

They are not Christian. The First Council of Nicaea in 325 A.D. answered that question once and for all.

I think it is better to let G-d decide who is or is not worshiping Him.

“On the other hand, those who founded sects committed to erroneous doctrines proceeded in a way that is opposite to this, the point is clear in the case of Muhammad. He seduced the people by promises of carnal pleasure to which the concupiscence of the flesh goads us. His teaching also contained precepts that were in conformity with his promises, and he gave free rein to carnal pleasure. In all this, as is not unexpected, he was obeyed by carnal men. As for proofs of the truth of his doctrine, he brought forward only such as could be grasped by the natural ability of anyone with a very modest wisdom. Indeed, the truths that he taught he mingled with many fables and with doctrines of the greatest falsity. He did not bring forth any signs produced in a supernatural way, which alone fittingly gives witness to divine inspiration; for a visible action that can be only divine reveals an invisibly inspired teacher of truth. On the contrary, Muhammad said that he was sent in the power of his arms—which are signs not lacking even to robbers and tyrants.”

-St. Thomas Aquinas (d. 1274), Theologian and Doctor of the Church

Even if all the things contained in his law were fables in philosophy and errors in theology, even for those who do not possess the light of reason, the very manners (Islam) teaches are from a school of vicious bestialities. (Muhammad) did not prove his new sect with any motive, having neither supernatural miracles nor natural reasons, but solely the force of arms, violence, fictions, lies, and carnal license. It remains an impious, blasphemous, vicious cult, an innovention of the devil, and the direct way into the fires of hell. It does not even merit the name of being called a religion.”

-St. Juan de Ribera (d.1611), Archbishop of Valencia, missionary to Spanish Muslims

Orthodoxy is schismatic, but it is still a part of the Universal Church, containing entirely valid Sacraments and apostolic succession. So yes

These are comments by Saints. They are not Church teaching.

The CCC is Church teaching and we read there that Muslims worship the One True God.

I agree that muslims claim to worship God, but their practices seem to defy that. I don’t see anything Godly in Islam so I am at a loss to understand why the Catholic Church would state that they adore God.

Which practices in particular

Me too. It’s mad of people to judge a whole HUGE religion by the few lunatics they see on the TV. It’s like judging all Catholics to be like Hitler or our religion to be a nest of sex offenders. We all know THAT is untrue yet there are so many people who are swift to form an opinion on little evidence

Did the Jews worship a different God though, since their understanding of God was not as a Unity of Three Persons.
