I think there was a recent post on this subject. I would not vote for LDS because they are taught to tell you want you want to hear and a whole variety of other reasons. Hubby is ex.LDS and says a big NO to LDS for president. Besides, that family value thing is nothing more than a ploy to get converts. LDS are no more family than an other religion. They have their problems and not just little ones. My hubby could write a book on LDS family life. The big reason they set aside Monday night for “family night” is becasue they have meetings to attend every other night of the week. Drive by a Stake House any evening (except Mon.) and you will see cars in the parking lot. This is a way to keep brothers and sisters in the church. We complain about having to attend Mass on Sunday…LDS are expected to stay 3 hours every Sunday and attend their respective meeting during the week. As my LDS friend told me, “I haven’t time for my family for all my callings”. They don’t have to accept the callings, but after so many phone calls and meetings about why he doesn’t want to take on more church work, he just gives in. My hubby confirms what my friend tell me.Hmm…I don’t think that we are.

I don’t know, we might be, if you’re talking about Romney, he sure has a definite shot at the job.Hmm…I don’t think that we are.

Hmmm. Stranger things have happened. But personally I think America’s cup runneth over at this time. We have had Katrina, and Irana nd Iraq, Hussein and North Korea, and bin Laden and his terrorists, a terribly slow economy…Hmm…I don’t think that we are.

I have no problem with a Mormon president.Oh geez…dont think so…just imagine the garbage that they would bring with them…
also if they won the election do you think he’d ask NASA for his own spaceship so he could get to his own planet with all of his wives![]()
Oh please Gilliam,…the spaceship comment was in regards to them having their own planets when they dieI have no problem with a Mormon president.
By the way, the mainstream Mormon church condemns polygamy. They have for a long time now. Only heretical off-shoots still have polygamy, and they are condemned by the church in Salt Lake City.
Your spaceship crack is unfathomable.
This is the United States of America. Anyone from any religion can become president. I see no problem with it. If we could have a Quaker leading the nation’s military during Vietnam, we can have anyone.

That is nice Gilliam…perhaps the guy wants to head to his planet early
- One wife, not many wives. I know a lot of LDS, they are not polygamists
- You don’t need a spaceship when you are dead.
I do not believe Nixon was an actually practicing Quaker at the time and pardon me, didn’t he get himself impeached? And as I said before, the Catholic one got his head blown off. So it would appear that not just everyone can be successfully president. Seems he needs to have an approval rating that either keeps him in office or keeps him alive. For some mysterious reason, when we consider Nixon and Kennedy, Bush is surviving. Hmmmm.I have no problem with a Mormon president.

I don’t think being a Quaker had anything to do with the charges being considered against Nixon. More on Nixon from a Quaker is here. Hoover was also a Quaker, by the way.I do not believe Nixon was an actually practicing Quaker at the time and pardon me, didn’t he get himself impeached? Thank you for your post. Some of the snide remarks that have accompanied this discussion show a decided lack of maturity and diversity. Thought that (diversity) was a big think these days. How about for once, just once, we vote for a candidate who is qualified besides being a Dem, or a Rep. or a whatever? That would be refreshing.there are at least 2 recent threads on this topic, do we need this acrimonious discussion again? if all you want to do is bash mormons we also have lots of threads for that.
I think being Catholic had everything to do with Kennedy being assassinated. Without the Catholicism of the Kennedy’s, they would never have run for office probably, much less on a democratic ticket. Especially in Bobby’s case. Bobby was one incredibly brave and ethical guy. And very dead.I don’t think being a Quaker had anything to do with the charges being considered against Nixon. Careful…lets not mock the LDS for their belief in baptising the dead non-LDS folks, like Hitler …I think being Catholic had everything to do with Kennedy being assassinated. I think religion has much to do with whether a guy is president or not and his ultimate end.
I doubt much that being a Quaker had anything to do with Nixon’s watergate activities, any more than being a Quaker had anything to do with his activities in Vietnam. In fact, I doubt being a Quaker had much to do with Nixon at all.
I don’t think we can say that about a Mormon president. Truly. Mormonism is an absolute lifestyle. I think it will make a big difference to how he runs his presidency. Just as Bush’s seat of the pants bible roulette effects his seat of the pants directions.
I wonder if Romney has had Hussein baptised yet? After all, Hussein has been dead now for more than twenty four hours.
