is anyone else out there like me worrysome? perhaps ocd? i hope not the latter. What i mean is that I pray hard for certain things and witness them come to pass, I see God day in and day out in tiny prayers being answered and him showing me himself in greater ways, even in things like getting me a place to live and a full-time job ive always wanted, but im always worried, always worried that these things arent secure and i pray for them to stay, almost as if God gave me them but then im worried theyll dissappear, or that hes showing me look what you want but you cant have it, sort of thing any inside?

Yes

I am a chronic worrier. I am always tempted to worry over everything and anything.

Funny thing, the things that do happen I have never worried about but the things that I worry about do not happen. Go figure.🤷

Some people are worriers, and some are not. I am a worrier. My mom is a worrier, and her dad was too, so maybe it is a learned behavior, or passed down in some other way. I have learned to live with my anxious nature by simplifying my life as much as I can, and by handling issues that come up as soon as they arise. I pray a lot because I am a worrier, always taking my concerns and fears to God. Quite often, this does bring me some peace. If my worrying moves me to pray more than someone who is more care free, then I suppose it is a good thing.

What I do not care for is when well-intentioned people bringing up Bible verses like “Can any one of you by worrying add one hour to his lifespan? Therefore I tell you, do not worry…” They can seem to imply that my worrying indicates a lack of faith, and that is simply not the case. It is just how I respond to life.

Also, please note that I am not talking about an anxiety disorder here, which can be severe and crippling, and is another matter altogether, and which can often be helped through counseling or medication.

Anyway, you’re not alone when it comes to worrying!

I have noticed the same thing in my life. I have to be careful, because I tend to tell myself, “This bad thing did not happen because I worried about it,” and that can become like a superstition! On the other hand, if my worrying moves to prepare better for a given situation and things do turn out well, then maybe my worrying did help.

This is my opinion about myself and my situation and NOT a judgment of anyone else.

I used to worry about a wide variety of things - normal things in life and, sometimes, things that I feared might possible happen. I don’t really know exactly how it happened, although I truly believed it was an act of God, but I came to realize that my worries saddened my Lord because my worries reflected my lack of faith in Him. I also realized that I could better spend my “worry” time in prayer and, after prayer, to leave it with Him.

I don’t worry much at all anymore and I am a better person for it. I believe I have a better relationship with God and a better understanding of His will. He was with me during the most horrible time in my life that I don’t think I could have gotten through without Him. He didn’t stop the event from happening but He helped me work through it…and I never felt closer to God than I did then and continue to feel now.

Worry is the devil’s work - don’t let evil win - we can get through anything with God!

Yes,I am a real worrier.It is exhausting!😦
Me too Jeanne. It is exhausting. I used to be someone that knew how to handle my anxiety and worry then too many bad things happened and then you just want things normal again. But I worry that will never be the case. 😦

No surprise there, either count.

As we grow older we **know **more worrisome things.

And anxiety is hard on a body, because it is a stress from which neither fight nor flight is possible.

I try to follow Padre Pio’s advice. I even have a little card with Padre Pio’s picture and a quote I carry with me at all times.

My Mother and sisters were all worriers. And I was a major worrier. When I woke in the morning, my first thought was trying to remember what I was worrying about the night before so I could start worrying again. Yuck!!! It took some very good friends to point out how much damage I was doing to myself and my family. My answer came in the Serenity Prayer.

God Grant me…
the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the Courage to change the things I can, and
the Wisdom to know the difference.

I also repeated “Let Go and Let God” about a zillion times. 🙂 Short, Simple and to the point.

God Bless You

I can relate to some extent, but I am beyond worrisome. I actually have severe anxiety that needs to be treated. Seriously. I see one pieve of news that scares me and I think about it for weeks, worrying. Sometimes I stop planning my life because of “what’s the point?” thoughts. It’s a terible affliction to be living with but I try to put my faith in God.

You are recognizing a fact of life, that property and wealth are unreliable, but don’t worry about it!

Matthew 6:25-34 New American Bible (Revised Edition)

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat [or drink], or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds in the sky; they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are not you more important than they? Can any of you by worrying add a single moment to your life-span? Why are you anxious about clothes? Learn from the way the wild flowers grow. They do not work or spin. But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was clothed like one of them. If God so clothes the grass of the field, which grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow, will he not much more provide for you, O you of little faith? So do not worry and say, ‘What are we to eat?’ or ‘What are we to drink?’ or ‘What are we to wear?’ All these things the pagans seek. Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom [of God] and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides. Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself. Sufficient for a day is its own evil.”

!
I am not a worrier, neither were my parents. But of course we do worry sometimes.
When I say " don t worry" it is more expressing sympathy and trying to be soothing, but I do realize too that sometimes just listening to a person helps more than saying " do not worry" .
And as you cannot help worrying…sorry…sometimes we cannot help saying " do not worry" , it is just a way of trying to give some hope.:o ( not that you do not have hope…)and it is also a way to respond to life. I guess none of us does it deliberately . Can it be kind of " inherited" ? I do not know.🤷

I am sure that anxiousness, as a personality element (distinct from clinical anxiety) can yo an extent be inherited, as can other cerebral issues,
