During the Dark Ages there was a stagnation of intelectual developments
How ironic. Catholic Church clergy are the only reason knowledge flowed during Dark Ages. Monks translated and copied historical scripts. Catholic Church built universities where intellectual inquiry flourished. They even had astronomy observatories at the top of many Cathedrals. If what you’re saying is right, how could teh Catholic Church have founded the University SYstem? How could a Catholic Priest have discovered the BIg Bang?

(e.g. Communist/Socialist governments, since when people don’t idolize God, they idolize people…every human has a “worship slot
That is an interesting concept (worship slot) but I don’t buy it.

Yes, but the guy is 16 and that’s all that matters.

The thing that brought Europe back to its place as a center of learning was the renaissance. The renaissance was the opposite of the dark ages, but one of the key differences was that it emphasized detachment from religion and focused more on man.
True to some extent. Renassisance told man “forget external authority, I can create my own morality! I can invent my own version of right and wrong!” And that locomotive started 500 years ago and is now moving at full speed, completely destroying society. People are saying they are whatever gender they want, they are saying they can have sex with whoever, whenever, to heck with the consequences on anyone. But at the same time, notice how the Renassisance today is completely incoherent - at the same time as they’re saying “we each get to decide what is right and wrong”, they are objectively telling people what is right and wrong, e.g. religion is bad, God is bad, etc. The whole thing is so incoherent its a joke.

Do you really believe that the accomplishments of the Catholic Church during the dark ages can be compared to that of the Abassid dynasty. Which allowed it’s people to believe what they wanted (with a extra tax to non Muslims). Europe During this time period was lagging behind many other empires.
It’s not a matter of belief. I read history and educate myself.
As long as you are asking “do you really believe”…what do you believe?
Your username seems to indicate an anger issue with Christianity, but surely you believe something positive.

Yes I am pretty angry with Christianity because I believe that without it the world would be better off.
Love one another?
All people are equal in dignity?
Social justice for all?

Stop me when it gets painful…

What is “blatantly wrong”? The idea that God created the Universe? The idea that Christ resurrected? What specifically is it that you think Christianity is blatantly wrong about? Just curious.

Yes, yes and yes!

I have heard the atheists cry that Christians are hateful, oppressive and sexist.

It was Jesus who said to love thy enemies, love thy neighbor as thyself and gave women the right to choose a life without being given in marriage.

All the ideals atheists are clamoring for were first introduced by Christianity!

If Jesus never came to establish the way of living a good and fair life, the ideal would not have ever existed on such a grand scale at all.

Your username is inappropriate. Using foul language is not a way to encourage a respectful conversation.

I’m guessing it’s for shock value then?

What did Jesus ever do to you?

Tell me when, where and by whom Catholicism has had its “teeth removed”.

Where did these secular values come to be a part of government rule? What countries are you referring to?

Who has enforced these secular values?

Please define secular values.

That’s like hitting someone to try and get their attention.

You can do better than that.

Okay that is fair. You are welcome to voice your disapproval.

Unfortunately, your name will get you banned before a meaningful conversation can take place.

So then it will be a waste of your time and opinion.

Anyways my username shouldn’t be insulting because it is like saying f nothing. No one would get mad at that (asides from the curse word).
Don’t be ridiculous. You are disrespecting the beliefs of the majority of this forum, something else which is not acceptable here.
Ohh and getting banned is not much of a concern to me because I am a pretty profiecient hacker (not that I would waste my time trying to hack this forum).
Possibly not something to brag about on a public forum.

Never mind. Hopefully one day you will learn how to conduct yourself and respect the beliefs of others enough to remain polite and charitable at all times.

To use Sharia Law as an example of why religious governments should not be allowed is an interesting argument.

I thought most people were in agreement that Sharia Law only benefits devout Muslims.

Christianity respects all life, no matter the person’s faith. Doesn’t everyone know that?

So you are intentionally ignoring the body count of catholicism here apparently. No one here is ignorant of this, including you.
Catholics can’t justify killing nonbelievers in that same way by pointing to Jesus’ life.
Yes, they point to other passages in their text to justify capital punishment and then use the most barbaric version of their time to use. Such as burning at the stake, the Rack, water boarding, the Heretic’s Fork, The Pear, The Wheel, etc.
