according to the conservative numbers(4%) there are 12 million homosexuals in this country, 320 million worldwide are you saying that you can speak for all social interactions?

what is your witness?
I’m bisexual. For several years I believed it to be part of my identity, and since the time I actually realized it I’ve only had crushes on girls. This winter, however, miraculously God taught me otherwise! I still have same-sex attractions - sometimes they are overwhelming, but they have decreased amazingly through prayer and me disciplining myself. I know being homosexual is much, much harder than bi, and I respect those who are. My best friend is gay.
The problem is that if homosexuality really is normal, wouldn’t God have mentioned it in the bible? If He created a third race of humans, wouldn’t he have said something about them, something other than, “Do not lie with man as with woman”?
Anyway, now I do not know if I will marry a guy or if I will be single or in a celibate relationship with a girl. I wouldn’t mind any of them, really.

But you know what? Don’t you DARE tell me that being in a homosexual, non-exclusive relationship does not hurt my relationship with God. Don’t you dare tell me that to do homosexuals acts is okay, because I know fully well it isn’t, and if you say that I feel like you’re patronizing me.

Hi i’m new in here. I myself am a homosexual, and i’m catholic.
I belive it is a sin, sorry to say. And yes i will have to answer to the lord when passing. I was raped as a young person, and abused by my ex husband. For now this is where i’m happy with my life. And i do go for therapy.Theres no excuses for my life style.

When you say you are a homosexual, do you mean you commit homosexual acts (like sex with a person of the same gender) or do you just have the feelings?

Yes, i’m in a commited relationship for 9 yrs now.
And we do have sex.

Have you considered reading David Morrison’s work “Beyond Gay”? You can continue in a wonderful committed friendship w/o the sex. I have all my life. I do not find it lonely at all. I have many friends. Sex is no necessity.

“First of all, I have to be honest and tell you that your exuberant
(mis)use of elilipsis in your writing makes gleaning meaning very, very
difficult. From what I am able to piece together, you are stating that
one who condems homosexual acts is fostering persecution of homosexuals.
🤷 I suppose that depends on what your defenition of
“persecution” is. My four year old claims that I’m “persecuting” her when I tell
her that something she’s doing is wrong. Lots of people claim
“persecution” or “harrassment” when told that something they’re doing is wrong.”

my apologies i need to edit better.

persecution 101…historically homosexuals have been severely persecuted. they have been abandoned by friends and family, rejected by society including the church, subject to incarceration, assaullt, which in some cases has led to death. in regards to the church in addition of being rejected and denied access, they were wrongly told, that they would be subject to eternal damnation if they allowed themselves to succomb to their same sex feelings.

“So sin is to be accepted? Forget the whole “take up your cross and
follow me” bit? Yes, there is emotional and psychological pain involved
with those who struggle to remain faithful to the Church’s teachings.
Go ask someone like St. Gianna Molla if there was emotional pain in
adhearing to Church teachings. Ask someone like St. Maximillian Kolbe if
he suffered psychologial duress. Sin exists. We are called to fight
against it.”

im not familiar with any of those martyrs, but my understanding is that in cases like brother lawrence or bernadette, whatever suffering they felt compelled to endure, it was from the grace and conviction by the holy spirit. their suffering wasnt thrust upon them by others who felt compelled to burden someone with their understanding of sin.

"Perhaps the problem lies in a defintion of “persecution”. You seem to
be of the opinion (and forgive me if I’m misreading this) that if one
is unwilling to embrace homosexual acts, one is engaging in persecution,
or as dictionary.com defines it:
  1. to pursue with harassing or oppressive treatment, esp. because of
religion, race, or beliefs; harass persistently.
  2. to annoy or trouble persistently.
To engage in this behavior is anti-christian. However, refusal to
condone homosexual acts does not equal persecution."

that’s what im trying to get at. what is the basis for making that statement"To engage in this behavior is anti-christian." is it an unsubstaniated opinion. are you merely reiterating your church leaders. is it an expression of cultural bias(christian culture) is this a result of witness. witness being an observation, apart from one’s belief system, that either supports that belief system or comes against it.

there were a number of references to christ being there for the gentiles as well. an example of winess…peter’s visit to cornelius’s house, acts 10, he witnessed something that totally countered everything he had been taught ( the reason he took 7 witnesses with him)

there were a number of references to christ being there for the gentiles as well. but it was only because of peter’s witness that those scriptures were embraced.

so what im asking you to consider. that to declare a person a sinner apart from from an interpretation of scripture requires a 1john1 witness of hearing, seeing, and touching(emotionally mentally and physically) with one’s heart in the spirit of fellowship of christ(fruit of the spirit) with your homosexual brothers in christ to determine if the spirit of their orientation comes against the fruit of the spirit(galatians) love, joy peace,kindness,gentleness,goodness,self-control,patience and faithfulness.

im sure you are famaliar with christ’s teaching a bad tree cannot produce good fruit and a good tree cannot produce bad fruit.

whether it is your intention or not, making homosexuals less than heterosexuals will cause persecution. you cant say one orientation is of god and the other is of satan or is anti christ or against god’s will and not cause persecution.

im not telling you not to believe what you believe. im merely telling you the consequences of your belief, and am asking you do you believe that spirit of christ supports persecution for the benefit of anything?

what is your understanding of witness? in scripture(the old testament required 2 witnesses) wouldn’t you conclude that lack of personnal witness raises the possibility of false witness.

"This needs to be explained. What “seperate but equal” does condemning
sin foster-

No, it doesn’t. Saying “we’re all sinners, but your sins are worse
than my sins and as such I’m going to make sure you don’t have access to
the same basics to life I do”. does.

Explain to me, please, how I am fostering persecution of homosexuals?
I seem to have missed your examples."

trying to give homosexuals seperate status is by denying them marriaage and saying their sexual inclinations are sin while heterosexuals are the will of god.

as i said before the persecution will NEVER stop until homosexuals are deemed equal to heterosexuals. are you aware that your belief is a source of that persecution?

"Because I am a Christian. I understand that human sexuality is a gift
given to us by God, to be used in accordance with His laws and
guidelines. Homosexual acts are a misuse of this gift.
Any use of human sexuality outside of the marital embrace, open to
life, is a misuse of this gift. I suppose then, according to your way of
seeing it, I’m equally willing to “persecute” heterosexual folks, too.
🤷

To encourage them to continue in sin is a better act of fellowship?

that’s what im trying to get you to explain. your evidence of the statements of “Homosexual acts are a misuse of this gift”

“And there it is- my favorite word slung about in these discussions-
HOMOPHOBIA. I am not afraid of homosexuals. I am not afraid
of homosexual acts. I am, however, aware that it is a sin. My witness
is the Word of God, the natural law.”

your interpretation of scripture is something you chose to embrace it is not your witness. what is the evidence that supports your interpretation? without a witness thru fellowship in 1john1 and acts 10, it is an interpretation that is unsubstantiated.

homophobia means means you treat someone different simply because they are a homosexual. the same way racism is treating people of another ethnic different simply because they are of another ethnic.

i know what catholic thought is about homosexuals. is that the basis of your faith. the catholic church tells you something and you accept it as truth unchallenged and make it your own. if you are then you are the first catholic i have ever met that does that. If one believes in Christ and the Church he founded and believes that God through the Holy Spirit protects and prevents his Church from teaching error with regards to faith and morals–then it is not so hard to accept Church teaching–even if it can be very hard to live at times. And if you look harder you will find many Catholics who have come to understand what Christ instituted so that we could no his teaching and do believe what the Church teaches. We can’t all make up our own truth–truth doesn’t work that way.

reversing roles… if you didnt believe your orientation was a sin would be able to feel comfortable in a church who didnt support your beliefs so that you could make it your home. I would have to ask myself by what authority I didn’t believe my orientation was a sin–mine? my feelings? my society of everchanging truth? is it simply because I don’t want it to be a sin? Is it up to God and the Church to conform to what we want or is it up to us to conform to what God wants–that is the question. Today many people Christians included keep trying to reinvent Christianity in their own image rather than trying to conform their lives to Gods image and that is the problem.

treating homosexuals different form heterosexuals invites persecution. dont take my word for it… check out supreme rulings. People should be treated with dignity–they shouldn’t be denied housing or work and they should not be made fun of–and that should not be tolerated.

you need to wake up and smell the roses …sex outside of marriage is no longer a sin.(out of necessity and because scripture never declared it a sin)… … only the spirit by which it happens. Who says it is not a sn? Just because people act like its not a sin does not make it so. So you’re arguing scripture is o.k. with fornication?

im sure you are aware of the survey among recently married christians couples that found 95% had sex before marriage And this is relevant how? Just because people are weak and sinful and do not live up to their beliefs doesn’t invalidate those beliefs. If we all woke up tomorrow and declared that gravitiy no longer existed–that wouldn’t make it so and we could all act as if it didn’t but that would ultimately be to our detriment.

so marriage and sex issue is moot. I don’ t see this.

Peace,

Christ quite clearly stated that we are his disciples if we keep his commands. Committing homosexual acts is not keeping his commands. And St. Paul follows this by saying sodomites or practicing homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom.

According to the Holy Spirit who is one with the Father and the Son. Homosexual acts are contrary to Christianity. Stating something is a sin should not foster persecution but it is still a sin.

MARK IN OREGON

you speak of the church as something other …WE ARE THE CHURCH …you and i who chiose to believe the teachings of christ.

surely you dont believe the death of all the martyrs at the hands of church leaders was warranted. huus for speaking out against paying penances, joan of arc for wearing men’s clothes. the only reason martin luther wasnt executed was because he was protected by the german princes. and the spanish inquistion that was done for purely national reasons. the trials were done by the church. the slaughter between the french catholics and protestants supported and encouraged by the church was over a creed. if we are all sinners then surely the body of sinners has sinnered

it iss one thing to endure suffering because of being convicted by the holy spirit and another to do it for the benefit of human understanding.

fornication… you are putting an interpretaion on word without doing a spirit witness. what is the witness of the spirit of sex outside of marriage as an expression of mutual love, attraction, and respect.

i have a friend who had a grandson who fell in love with a girl, they became intimate, lived together, and eventually got married. in this whole growing process of growing commitment they could not bring it to the church to share its blessing and to receive a blessing. how in their relationship were they coming against the fruit of the spirit the essence of christ?

Christ quite clearly stated that we are his disciples if we keep his commands. Committing homosexual acts is not keeping his commands. And St. Paul follows this by saying sodomites or practicing homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom.
if this is true please quote the scriptures of christ’s teachings

homosexual 18th century word how can you put so much power in an eighteenth century word and apply it to a text written 1800 years earlier. what is the spirt test of this scripture? what is the spirit of homosexuality that it would come against the fruit of the spirit(galatians), the spirit of christ?

if this is true please quote the scriptures of christ’s teachings.
Try the Last Supper discourse in the Gospel of John. And since the Christian belief is that Christ is God God has clearly condemned sodomy or homosexual acts, not homosexuals per se.

please designate the specific scriptures?

One study reports that the average homosexual has between 20 and 106 partners per year. The average heterosexual has 8 partners in a lifetime.
Corey, L. and Holmes, K. “Sexual Transmission of Hepatitis A in Homosexual Men.” New England J. Med., 1980, pp. 435-38.

From the link I provided before:

Yes, we are aware of the abuses within heterosexual couplings and they are clearly denounced and prohibited in Scripture and Tradition.
you dont differeniate between homosexuals and homosexual believers the way you do with heterosexuals

do feel that comfortable making blanket statements of 12 million people in this country and 320 million worldwide.

If you are a Christian then you would know its a grave sin. It is clearly spelled out in the bible in terms which are in no way ambiguous.

Romans 1:27 and 32
“and the males likewise gave up natural relations with females and burned with lust for one another. Males did shameful things with males and thus received in their own persons the due penalty for their perversity.”

“Although they know the just decree of God that all who practice such things deserve death, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.”

1 Cor 6:9
“Do you not know that the unjust will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor boy prostitutes nor sodomites”

1 Tim 1:9-10
“We know that the law is good, provided that one uses it as law,
with the understanding that law is meant not for a righteous person but for the lawless and unruly, the godless and sinful, the unholy and profane, those who kill their fathers or mothers, murderers, the unchaste, practicing homosexuals, kidnappers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is opposed to sound teaching,”
then you are saying that you comfortable witnessing that all the sexually active, of the 320 million homosexuals worldwide as shamebased lusters. and there is no possiboility that paul really wasnt referring to homosexuals in chapter 1 of romans. most ofthe specific sins listed in the end of chapter 1 were sins historically committed by heterosexuals against homosexuals. and to my knowledge there has been no jester by the heterosexual community of contrition for those sins.

feetxxxl -

You can rationalize homosexuality any way that you want. You can use any argument you wish and in the end it comes down to some basic Truths:
  1. Christ established His Church on Earth.
  2. He gave the Church the authority to teach on faith and morals with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
  3. The Church teaches that the act of homsexuality is a sin. The homosexual is a child of God and deserves the same love and respect that all of God’s children deserve. The homosexual is called to a life of chastity and abstinence.

then you are saying that you comfortable witnessing that all the sexually active, of the 320 million homosexuals worldwide as shamebased lusters a depictioon. and there is no possiboility that paul really wasnt referring to homosexuals in chapter 1 of romans.
As I have tried to state before not all homosexuals are sexually active. Fr. Groeschel believes through his experience of counseling these people that more are in active than are active for very fear of catching something. If they are in active they won’t go to hell. There is no sin in just being homosexual. And living according to Church teaching can be very rewarding.
