Is "being nice" an overrated virtue?

It’s not.
Agreed. A virtue has to be grounded in truth and if we cannot work on problems with an honest attitude, then the smiles and handshakes are more fake than really friendly.
But in that thread you seemed pretty ticked that parishes, bishops, administraters weren’t ‘nice’ to you when you wanted a Latin Mass there. Seems rather hypocritical.

Kindness is one of the virtues and essential to evangelization, both within the Church itself and among others. Even a person severely grieving and who is under great duress is still morally obligated to strive to the best of their ability to be kind to everybody they meet and to make them feel valued. Mother Teresa experienced moments of terrible darkness but she continued to smile and be warm.

True but I don’t think she was always smiling when she encountered children in various stages of suffering, duress and affliction. In fact, I think she was frowning and unhappy.

Interesting, another traditionalist thread was just closed down.
So I guess you are using the term traditionalist in the EF vs OF vernacular? Rather then in the Sacred Tradition and Sacred Scripture framework.
I know plenty of nice little old ladies who go to both and are very friendly. Many are the backbone of the Church, they clean, wash, decorate, work hard on liturgy, finance, music and other ministry boards within the Church.

Kindness is an aspect of love and its chief function is to bring comfort to those who are suffering. The apostle says:

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited. Romans 12: 14-16

And Our Lord says in his sermon:

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. Matthew 5: 38-43

Yes, in the sense intended by CAF. This forum is not about Catholic Tradition - that is, the doctrines handed down in the Deposit of Faith through the apostles, but rather traditional Catholicism of the traditional Roman Rite (EF) and related beliefs and practices.

This forum if you read the sticky, is about Catholic customs and Traditions. It is not about the EF solely. The sticky can be found at the start of this sub forum.

If I wanted to discuss the tradition of the Jesse tree or the advent wreath, this is the forum to do it. Or the tradition of the Way of the Cross, again, this is the forum to do it. If I wanted to discuss the tradition in the OF of any number of things, I would do so here.

Right. As I pointed out to you, it’s not about Catholic Tradition.
Sacred Tradition is covered here too. There is nothing in the sticky that says it is off limits.
Apostolic Tradition is covered here for example. The tradition of laying on the hands during Confirmation.

Does this assume that we should not correct anyone if they are mistaken?
But you have to be consistent to be credible. If I correct you when I see something skewed, it behooves you to contemplate on that correction. Otherwise you are coming from a place of gnosticism and superiority because we are all just journeying on the same path aren’t we.

Admonishment is one of the corporal works of mercy. It is dangerous because God looks at the intent of the person, and if the intent is to help their brother or sister, then the action is good. If the intent is for personal satisfaction, or worse yet, to slake a lust for getting even, then the action is evil.

I think a good starting point is to accept that Protestants, Jews, Muslims, Pagans and Atheists are at enmity with the Catholic Faith.
This is really sad. I am so sorry that whatever experiences you have had lead you to believe this.
