I’m sorry that’s what they are. Pro abortionists are baby killers. However, someone told me its disrespectful (they were pro life btw). To me i don’t think anyone who advocates killing anyone deserves respect other than the basic respect God asks us to give them. To me they might as well be the same as the guards who ran Auschwitz. I know its harsh, but its true.

If it walks, acts and quacks like a duck… 🤷

However just because someone is pro-Abortion doesn’t mean they have had an abortion themselves, so to that point I would say calling a pro-abortionist a “baby killer” would be uncharitable.

Why, Democrats are the pro choice party. Its in their platform. This isn’t Nazi Germany where people were forced to join a party or duped into believing the party was pro life. In my book if you support abortion, your a baby killer, even if you or your family have never had an abortion.

The real issue, IMHO, is is it productive or counter-productive?

If the goal is to prevent people from having abortions on demand, then the approach can’t be confrontational.

Thank you my Jewish brother, that was my point. Regardless of who they are, may be, whatever blah blah…(yeah you commit abortion you’re a baby murderer and if you are pro-choice you are a pro baby-murderer) However reiterating YKohen’s point…

How is it productive?

Let me ask you Ben…did the Apostles win converts by just standing in the middle of the forum saying “Fornicators and Idolaters you are all damned to Hell!” On the contrary they won converts by using reason, truth and love to win converts

People who resort to just shouting “Baby-Killer!” in front of abortion clinics are just proving that they have no basis for their stance and are left only to resort to personal attacks. The man who confronts the “baby-killers” with God’s Love, Truth and reasoning is the one who will create more converts than the Judaizer (no offense YKohen :)) who lobs stones at the “heretics”. Follow Saint Paul’s path Ben, not Saul’s.

Bottom line: The “fire and brimstone” approach doesn’t usually work. It just turns people off- including many who might otherwise agree with you.

No, it’s not. Abortion may be “baby killing” but not everyone who supports abortion has engaged in the act.

But I think the definition is irrelevant and you’re missing the point. The abortion debate is already a highly sensitive topic driven by emotional arguments from both camps. You’re against abortion, and I suppose that you want to share your views so that other people will rethink their opinions on the issue. By accusing them of being “baby killers” you’ve ended discussion before you can even start it. If you think that abortion is murder, you can support your claim without putting other people on the defense.

👍👍

What is the purpose of calling pro-aborts “baby killers”, and are we talking about “to their face” or “in reference to”?

No, it is not uncharitable. It is accurate.

I think a strong case can be made that the world is more evil, in both quantity and quality, than it was just prior to the Deluge.

That’s the real point. What is the goal? If the goal is to fan the flames or assert superiority over them, then by all means-use that kind of language. If the goal is to help them understand the reasons you oppose abortion and perhaps lead them toward a change of heart, then there might be better ways to approach them.

Wonderfully said! 👍

We can’t hope to catch too many flies with vinegar - especially in this day and age, where the “fire and brimstone” approach is usually met with derision or overt dismissal. 😉

And we need to engage the other side in debate, especially those who are confused, ambivalent, traumatized or swayed by the wrong sort of training. A lot of “pro-choicers”, even if terribly misguided, are not evil at heart, and it is possible to engage them in meaningful dialogue. If it sometimes seems otherwise, that’s because Internet message boards and Facebook are generally not good debating grounds! 😃

People who are pro-choice are not “pro-abortion.” So pretty much all these references are insulting and lack charity.

Op, you are angry, and rightfully so… Abortion is murder of babies, however we are told in Scripture that our anger should not lead to sin

James 1:20 for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.

Ephesians 4:26 In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry

Psalm 4:4 In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. Selah

Do you not think Christ was angry at those men who were willing and ready to kill the woman they caught in adultery? Yet, remark how He dealt with that situation. Peacefully, without condemning, without pointing fingers in a direct open public way… He dealt with each of them in a way that was private (even though His writing in the sand was a public action) He did this without calling them out publicly on their own hypocrisy, their own sins. And remember we aren’t Christ… we have sin too and He could easily write in the sand for us as well.

👍

Speaking for myself, it is helpful to always remember that there but for the grace of God go I.

agree 👍

It is important to remember that we are all capable of committing the most heinous sins and it is only the grace of God that has, so far, saved us from that.

Calling someone a “baby killer” runs the risk of further hardening a heart.

Yeah, and which means becoming a Pharisee, which means we’ve by-passed Christ and live for the glory of ourselves- I speak from experience that it is frightfully something very easy to fall into.

:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:sad_yes:

I’m personally unsure if it’s uncharitable or not, but it’s absolutely counterproductive. Even if the definition is “technically” true, how do we work to win them to our side with the “baby killer” title?

In case anyone is curious, I’m pro-life.
