Is calling pro abortion people "baby killers" uncharitable?

I’m sorry that’s what they are. Pro abortionists are baby killers. However, someone told me its disrespectful (they were pro life btw). To me i don’t think anyone who advocates killing anyone deserves respect other than the basic respect God asks us to give them. To me they might as well be the same as the guards who ran Auschwitz. I know its harsh, but its true.
Okay, so let’s change this to something else, to test if it is uncharitable.

Is it okay to call fat people…pigs?

Chances are it is true. Fat people eat too much. (Ignoring the few that have true medical issues.) So why can’t we tell the truth?? (I say this as a woman that needs to lose at least 50 pounds)

Because it is mean. Because we shouldn’t call people names. Because we are suppose to be better than that. Because my parents taught me better.

or have medical issues and/or read too much

i usually want to beat people up when i hear that

use portly or chubby or something like that instead

also in the case of abortion supporters

mention medical proof for viability

or an argument along the line of the ten universal principles

God Bless

People who are pro-choice are not “pro-abortion.” So pretty much all these references are insulting and lack charity.
That makes about as much sense as a “Lost Causer” saying the Civil War was about states’ rights (to have slavery), culture (centered around slavery), and economics (based on slavery) and not about slavery. Pro-choice by default is pro-abortion.

After spending one of the most horrible years of my life in Vietnam, I was called a “baby killer” by demonstrators at my home airport. If you really want to help the pro-choice movement, keep calling them “baby killers”. Although I’m sure it happened during that unpopular war, I didn’t have to killed anyone. All the name calling did for me was to re-affirm the unity I had with my fellow soldiers and it took many years to forgive the name callers. Not only are you acting uncharitable, your helping their cause by uniting them. Better to pray for them.

But you did not support baby killing. Pro aborts do. That is a big difference.

I don’t support killing of any kind but that’s what my Country sent me to do. You asked for opinions and I gave mine along with many others. If you really didn’t want to know…you shouldn’t have asked!

Yes, uncharitable, even though it’s true.

It’s no different than calling an obviously fat woman fatso. Deep down, she knows it’s true, but she’d prefer to delude herself with various euphemisms.

And fat people are fat. And people do things to themselves that make them look ugly.

Do you also tell them that they are fat or ugly?

Or do you try to be charitable and simply say nothing?

I know my parents taught me to say nothing.

Unless I am on the witness stand, I do not have to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.

And if your wife asked if this dress made her look fat, you would say…🍿

Yes…its uncharitable and it is untrue.

I grew up in deep segregated South…living areas, schools, eating places, entertainment places, travel facilities, and yes, even our Catholic Churches and Catholic schools (until a big burly blunt, but lovable bishop showed up and said:…no more!..not in my Particular Church…not on my “watch”!..not in my sheep fold!..I will die for you, but I won’t go to hell for you!..and only two people left the Church…everyone else stayed and made it work in obedience to the bishop and the Church…in obedience to Christ).

We were taught to not call Segregationists…racist…you know why?..because nearly all of them were not racist. The injustices to us under segregation and Jim Crow rules/laws was abominable…but still…only a person’s direct racist words/actions…(KKK types and other similar groups with violent speech and violent actions)…would allow us to judge/classify them as racist. It was a most valuable distinction…especially during the Civil Rights movement and confrontations…and again…after all the Civil Rights laws were passed and implemented. Our hearts were not damaged to the point of making us just as uncharitable…and it gave many segregationist the space to “repent” and follow their conscience to make the changes…we worked it out over a long period of time…yes, with God’s graces…we all work it out together…especially in the Church/diocese/parish.

So, for me…only the abortion doctor and direct assistants in the act itself…could be called…not killers…but murderers…flat out baby murderers… murderers of the most defenseless people on the planet…but not the pro-abortion or pro-choice proponents…they are not killers or murderers…IMO.

I have often thought/surmised …what if God had made…from the moment of conception…to implantation in the womb…to birth…that whole enclosed place/process…a place if violated/entered from the outside…say…it would give off a instantaneous deadly poison gas…instantly killing mother and everyone in the room…except the baby! How many abortions do you think we would have experienced since Roe vs Wade?..how about zero…zip. Its only because the baby in the womb is totally defenseless.

Lord have mercy on us all! Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, your intercession is powerful…and we are in critical need…have pity on us and pray for us! Amen!

I said on an early post that intent and circumstances determine what language to use.
My reply to the other poster was to point out the difference between being a soldier and intentionally murdering someone.

The analogy you brought up does not apply. First we are talking of actions not characteristics and secondly the terms you used signify an attempt to insult.

Stating one supports killing babies is not an insult unless untrue.

You would have intentionally murdered a baby? That would be an unjust command.

I think ‘hurting the feelings’ of those culpable for this is the least of our concerns.
But converting their hearts and minds shouldn’t be the least of our concerns. They will not be converted by being called “baby killers.”

I know two wonderful Christian women who had abortions as teenagers.

Both felt a lot of guilt and remorse; one of them now volunteers to counsel other women who have had abortions and are filled with the same regret.

The other joined the Catholic Church as an adult, confessed and was absolved, and now bravely speaks publicly of her experience as witness to God’s healing and forgiveness.

If you don’t know the heart and mind and path of another, then yes, I would say “baby killer” is highly uncharitable and just a frustrated shock tactic. And if you were to call either of these beautiful Christian ladies “baby killers” within my earshot, you would quickly and painfully discover that Essenes aren’t as peaceful as you think we are. 😉

As a Christian are we not called to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us? To hate the sin but love the sinner?

How, pray tell, do you see hurting someone’s feelings as a sign of love for them?

And with that in mind, perhaps we should remember to remove the log from own eye before dealing with the speck in our neighbours.
No , you can hate the sin and still love the sinner.
Jesus often called sinners to account. He spoke the truth plainly. Its not about setting out to hurt someone’s feelings, like calling them fat and ugly as so crassly compared in other posts, its about setting out to state the truth.
The plain truth is abortion is killing an unborn child. If that plain truth hurts someone’s delicate sensibilities, it does not mean it stops it being true, nor should we stop speaking the truth.
Sometimes the truth hurts as the saying goes. I’m trying to think of another example or analogy…would you say to an openly racist person that their views are ok, or not call them out for being a racist because you might upset them? 🤷 A lot of this is dancing around the perceived offence that someone may take. Honestly, someone who is pro-abortion is not going to be offended by the fact that someone who is pro-life believes abortion to be murder. They are well aware of the issues at stake. Is there any other instance where we would say to someone its ok to support something that is wrong.🤷

Yes but, cannot dilute, water down the truth to avoid ‘hurting’ the feelings of someone.
If you vote to legalise abortion, or keep it legal, and support it, you cannot then wash your hands of of the fact that your support enables unborn children to be killed in the womb.
Whether you would care to admit it or not, you are complicit.

It’s also true that we are all sinners and all authors of Christ’s Passion. Should we go up to every person we meet and yell “Sinner! Jesus killer!” in their face? I hope the answer to that question is obvious.

I’m not opposed to referring to abortion as “baby killing.” But to call pro-abortion/choice individuals “baby killers”? I have to wonder what one would hope to gain by doing such a thing.
👍

For the first time, I wish there was a way to save favorite posts! 🙂

Wow. When I read through these threads it’s mind blowing how little of the world is understood by the humans who populate it. First off - lets clear a few things up for the highly uneducated. The Democratic party doesn’t support abortion. The democratic party understands that America is a nation built up of many different religions, ideologies, and positions. White power skinheads use biblical passages to perpetuate the myth of slavery as being some kind of biblical mandate. Should we have another civil war? I mean seriously - there existed a HUGE population of people not very long ago who were down with owning another human being. Think about it. So you don’t support abortion - neat. Maybe the average American should run a laundry list of things that they HAVE supported that destroys not only the lives of unborn children, but people who are actually born. Remember lead paint? Remember asbestos? What about pollution, cars, cigarettes, cholesterol etc…etc… Do you know how many mentally handicapped, aborted babies, and cancer victims we have created because we wanted cool colors, and more efficient heating and air? CMON!!! What about the Iraq war? Give me evidence of one war where children - innocent babies weren’t murdered. Let me tell you something brothers - if you aren’t living off the grid, hiking everywhere you go, and eating food that you grew on a patch of land in some remote forest - YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM…Grow up, and get used to it or do something about it - unless it just makes you feel really good to sit around and call people baby killer that you don’t know, and have never walked a mile in their shoes. Then by all means. If it helps you sleep better.
