Is Catholic Clergy Sex Abuse Related to Homosexual Priests?

This will probably be the only time I agree with @delrey but we should not be looking at sexual orientation to disqualify someone from the priesthood. Only their ability to be good spiritual fathers. However, the policies that led to the inordinately high population of homosexual men in the priesthood need to be changed and those that will not/can not lead celibate lives need to be excluded.

Take for example one homosexual priest, Fr John Conley, San Francisco, who reported the sexual abuse of a young man and was punished by his Bishop for doing so. I think the church was a much better place with him in it as a priest.

Yes, under the right circumstances. It is no one’s right to be a priest. Everyone should be honest with their sexual past and any ongoing activities. It is up to the seminary officials to determine that a person can lead a celibate life.

No because now we have these scandals which are undoubtedly predominately (80-90%) homosexual in nature.

To further my previous post, it also seems to me that as it became clear the abuse of minors would not be tolerated, the problem progressed to the seminaries.
Why do the Roman Catholic authorities tolerate this type of activity in Roman Catholic seminaries?

delrey . . .
I disagree. Homosexual people should be allowed to be ordained priests.
Then your problem is with the Vatican.

What do you think a ministerial “priest” is delrey?

I’m not… that’s all. The numbers don’t lie. 8-9 of every 10 cases of abuse are homosexual (a man with another male) in nature.
