I have researched all the religions of the world. Over the past few months I have narrowed down my search to Catholic Christianity and Islam. I’m leaning towards Catholicism because the miracles and exorcisms I see as the best evidence. Islam has no miracles except the Qur’an has some amazing scientific statements no one could have known 1400 years ago. But my answer is Satan. In Islam the devil has no power (can only tempt) in Catholicism the devil can do what he wants so Satan could have made Islam but it wouldn’t work the other way around where the devil made Catholicism since in Islam the devil can only tempt. Satan could have easily told Muhammad the scientific miracles in the Qur’an. What do you all think?

You know, the one thing that really is the deciding factor for me in Christianity is the prophecies. Muhammad has a lot going for him, but no one ever prophesied about him and no one ever from my knowledge shared in the divine revelations with him which makes him no more credible than Joseph Smith. Every single figure in Christianity and Judaism had instances where they fulfilled prophecy, spoke prophecy that was fulfilled, or had signs that followed (or preceded) them that was witnessed by many. A lot of times divine revelation was shared with multiple people as well (Mt. Sinai and the The Apostles).

There really isn’t any religion on the planet that has qualifications such as these.

Muhammad’s revelations could have easily been from Satan or any other demon because there was no way he could credibly distinguish Divine revelation from anything else.

A faily accurate assessment.

The extent of the devil’s power or influence over things or individuals depends on the circumstances. Technically, all men without the grace of Baptism are, to a lesser or greater extent, a subject (or prisoner) of the devil. This is usually referred to as the dominion of death. Mortality has enormous psychological and behavioural consequences that make men liable to slavery, either individually or indirectly through the influence of the group/society. American classical philosophers noted this danger indirectly through such statements as “he who sacrifices liberty for security deserves neither,” etc. It’s man’s tendency under the regime of sin to accept immoral conditions for the sake of security or the preservance of his life or the lives of his loved ones, which inevitably ends up in some form of slavery or bondage. Christ’s Triumph on the Cross broke this condition and liberated man from the bondage of death. Hence whenever a society is turning for the worse, we often find Saints and Martyrs appearing as it were out of the woodworks of society (if that society is Christian).

Classic examples include: the reign of Henry VIII and his descendants (except Queen Mary), the French Revolution, the Nazi regime in Germany and State Communism as practiced in Russia. In the Nazi regime, an entire nation-society was effectively captured by its leaders who were but a few men. Indirectly, the whole society became subject to an evil principle. More frightening is the fact that these men came to power largely with popular support, though we know that the conditions created by the peace treaty following World War I drove most Germans into desperation. The conditions created by an exploitive and unfair treaty was ripe for abuse. That treaty was an unjust peace. World War II was largely the consequence of that unjust world order.

There are no scientific statements in the koran.

I think the bolded, red part of your statement (emphasis mine) is what is crucial. In these other faiths, Islam and Mormonism, the beginnings of it all had no witnesses. There was so much secrecy. That for me is a defining part of Christianity - nothing about it was secret. It was out there, everybody who was willing to listen was told all. No secret revelations. If someone came to me and said “I found these tablets with divine revelation and this is what they say. But you can’t actually look at them yourself, you have to take my word for it” I would in no way blindly trust them. Jesus showed the people who He really was - they only had to look.
Just my personal view on what makes something trustworthy but it feels like it works for me. 🤷

Yes there are look up Scientific miracles in the Qur’an they are pretty interesting.
Since you made the original claim regarding these ‘scientific miracles’, you need to post them for discussion, so the ball is on your court.

Aso, I don’t believe this thread belongs here.

Most like it should be moved to Non-Catholic sub section of this forum.

I agree, Mohamad had no witnesses to his so called “revelations” and this is one of the reasons the Jews & Christians in Medina, as well as the pagans non believers did not believe in him.

Paul, in Galatians 1:8

“But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we preached to you, let him be accursed.”

Notice how, in the cases of Islam and Mormonism, and angel appeared to a single man and preached a different gospel?

Thank you kindly for posting this, as I was about to do as well. 👍

God*** IS*** Love is a claim that only Trinitarians can make when referring to being. All others monotheistic traditions are limited to say God loves!

Peace and LOVE!

This is one of the miracles if I showed all of them it would be to much.
The point though is that these are the only miracles in Islam and I said they could be of the devil to deceive people.
I understand you are new here, but I’m not going to open & read your link.

In a simple sentence, post that 1 miracle from your link and how YOU believe it to be a miracle and NOT what the article claims.

Here is some information for you to study up regarding the so called “embryology miracle” from the koran.

I believe it’s in the British museum, but not sure. There are 7 ancient tablets of the Enuma Elish and the 6th tablet has on the creation of man being created by “blood clot”

Google Enuma Elish tablets and read the English translations. These tablets go back hundreds and hundreds of years before mohamad & islam.

Also look up a Greek doctor named Galen, who lived of 150 AD.
In 1983 Basim Musallam, Director of the Centre of Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Cambridge concluded, "The stages of development which the Qur’an and Hadith established for believers agreed perfectly with Galen’s scientific account…
There is no doubt that medieval thought appreciated this agreement between the Qur’an and Galen, for Arabic science employed the same Qur’anic terms to describe the Galenic stages"
Reference: (B. Musallam (Cambridge, 1983) Sex and Society in Islam. p. 54)

Hippocrates who lived around 370BC as well as Aristotle who also lived around 330BC. They already had the knowledge for how embryos were created and formed.

Anyway OP, there are more references out there on the WWW for you to look up regarding this miracle.

I haven’t seen much convincing evidence that the Qur’an contains any scientific miracles, though my research has been brief. Not that it doesn’t have any contents which seem quite advanced for the time period in which it was written but you can derive that opinion from all most any work of antiquity. (Greek Philosophers, The Atomists etc…)

Muhammed certaintly had contact with Jews, Christians, Zoroastrians and it can be easily demonstrated that he would have, if not having perusal of any of the sacred texts, at least had contact with the adherents. So it’s not as if he was preaching something entierly new, which he didn’t claim himself. And I think he drew upon the doctirines of the Bible for the Quranic creation, and other matters pertaining to it and since the Bible predates the Qur’an all dues should go back to the Bible. It was the first one to expound creation Ex Nihlo etc. also it seems to give a more intelligeble account of creation than any other belief system of the time, they, seeming more mythological than factual. And Genesis was written 1600-1100 years before the Qur’an or the advent of Islam. I don’t think you should dismiss biblical veracity in scientific matters, though I don’t think it’s scientific standing makes it any more spiritually true. Religion is about ‘how to get to heaven, not how the heavens go.’ and in that respect Catholicism (for me) is true. :signofcross:

They call them miracle so that is just what I called them. I will be sure not to call them that next time and I will actually show them next time instead of a link sorry. But some of them could not have been known back then. Like mountains having a deep root etc…
Much was already known by the time the 7th century rolling and Mohamad was born. Knowledge throughout the many nations existed.

I also wanted to say that since you chose Catholicism, you chose well.

Christ Is Lord…!!

It says you are eastern orthodox didn’t they break off in the great schism? Can you be catholic and orthodox? But thank you:)
I am Easter Orthodox and yes, they did break. 1/2 of my family is Catholic and the other half is EO and we get along just fine.

I wish you well in with your studies into the Catholic faith.

Another thing came to mind. This CAF site is great for learning. Since you are new into your search for Catholicism, ask them on here.

Lots of informative Catholics here and this site is one of the top best.

Best regards
Pam

Yeah I have a bunch more questions. I will ask them here since yahoo answers is full of jerks that just yell at each other all the time.
Oh yeah like the entire R&S section of Y!A is loaded with jerks…and atheists!! That site is a waste of time.
