Is Catholicism the only true Christian religion?

Yes, because Jesus Christ founded the Holy Catholic Church and He founded no other church. Will I get banned for stating that?

There is only one God there is only one Lord and one baptism. There is only one true faith. This is what St Paul teaches, and it’s quite logical.

If God is God then there is only one true religion.

I have never been tempted to become Protestant, Muslim or Buddhist even if I can appreciate their respective faiths.

As I see it there is only Catholicism or Atheism as viable options and Atheism is not logical.

My heart tells me that the Catholic faith is true and good.

Is Catholicism the only true Christian religion? 👍 Yes it is indeed I am writting a book about our faith and defending the church! Jesus was Jewish but he was Catholic too. Because the Old and New Testament Scriptures are the divinely-revealed, written Word of God, Catholics venerate the Scriptures as they venerate the Lord’s body. But Catholics do not believe that God has given us His divine Revelation in Christ exclusively through Scripture. Catholics also believe that God’s Revelation comes to us through the Apostolic Tradition and teaching authority of the Church.

What Church? Scripture reveals this Church to be the one Jesus Christ built upon the rock of Saint Peter (Matt. 16:18). By giving Peter the keys of authority (Matt. 16:19), Jesus appointed Peter as the chief steward over His earthly kingdom (cf. Isaiah. 22:19-22). Jesus also charged Peter to be the source of strength for the rest of the apostles (Luke 22:32) and the earthly shepherd of Jesus’ flock (John 21:15-17). Jesus further gave Peter, and the apostles and elders in union with him, the power to bind and loose in heaven what they bound and loosed on earth. (Matt. 16:19; 18:18). This teaching authority did not die with Peter and the apostles, but was transferred to future bishops through the laying on of hands (e.g., Acts 1:20; 6:6; 13:3; 8:18; 9:17; 1 Tim. 4:14; 5:22; 2 Tim. 1:6). :onpatrol: :crossrc:

By virtue of this divinely-appointed authority, the Catholic Church determined the canon of Scripture (what books belong in the Bible) at the end of the fourth century. We therefore believe in the Scriptures on the authority of the Catholic Church. After all, nothing in Scripture tells us what Scriptures are inspired, what books belong in the Bible, or that Scripture is the final authority on questions concerning the Christian faith. Instead, the Bible says that the Church, not the Scriptures, is the pinnacle and foundation of the truth (1 Tim. 3:15) and the final arbiter on questions of the Christian faith (Matt. 18:17). It is through the teaching authority and Apostolic Tradition (2 Thess. 2:15; 3:6; 1 Cor. 11:2) of this Church, who is guided by the Holy Spirit (John 14:16,26; 16:13), that we know of the divine inspiration of the Scriptures, and the manifold wisdom of God. (cf. Ephesians 3:10).

I hope that this site gives Catholics the biblical and patristic knowledge they need to answer questions about their faith, and helps them rediscover the truth of their faith as taught by Sacred Scripture. I further pray that non-Catholics come to recognize that God’s gift of salvation comes only through Jesus Christ and His Catholic Church. I also pray that each one of us grows more deeply in love with Jesus as we become better Bible Christians (or, rather, “Scripture Catholics”).

Yes. The Roman Catholic Church is the one, true, church founded by Christ. There are Four Marks of the Church:

1.) One
2.) Holy
3.) Catholic
4.) Apostolic

The Catholic Church is Apostolic:

1.) Because the Apostles founded it
2.) Because the Apostles’ teaching is handed on by it
3.) Because the Apostles’ successors, the bishops, lead it

This information came from the book:The Catholic Source Book by Rev. Peter Klein

Hey Moonflower,

Your book sounds like it will be great! Be sure to tell us about it when it´s published. What´s the title?

Beware of accepting the opinions re Catholicism of various posters without official confirmation first. Some make it a black/white, either/or question, when it is not so. On the other hand, some make it soft and squishy when it it firm and definite. Check out the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and other official pronouncements or teachings on any questions first.

Don’t trust the strongly asserted opinions of a single person **alone **without confirming their accuracy first with official Catholic teaching.

Remember this affirmation of faith from the Apostles, after Jesus taught the people about eating his flesh. Some people walked off.
Jesus turns to the diciples and says, “Will you also leave?”
Peter replies, “Lord, where can we go? You have the words of eternal life.”

Note they may not have understood what Jesus was teaching just then, but in light of his other teaching, and the lack of any worthwhile alternative, they decide to stay despite their uncertainty about the some things, or their lack of understanding.

Despite doubt and difficulties, they stayed. It was an act of Will, despite lack of understanding.

Hope this helps.

The answer is yes. Protestants, by denying the Papacy, have denied Christ.

My title is a thousand roses or thorns and roses i cannot pick which one will be good. are u a priest? I have a calling to become a nun. You it is weird I resemble St. Alphonsa quite a bit. But a spanish version lol

The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to me too. Our dear Mother of God has been appearing to me since I was 7 years and till now! She appeared to my aunt Nancy when she was at the age of 5! Mary is sad at this time when Faith is diminishing more and more, and sins are on the increase at a most alarming speed. In the little town of Lodi Nj Mary has appeared in the form of a second fatima vision.

It is from this podium that our Heavenly Mother requested on May 13 2007 she be also called our lady of gentle love be notified of Her request that an Hour of Grace be observed every day at the 3rd hour for the hour of mercy with her son! Mary, the Mother of God, appeared to her in a wonderful vision and magnificent light, as the exalted Lady, dressed in white very sad and with tears in Her eyes. Her veil was blue as the sky…

I noticed that Her heart was pierced by three swords; The first sword means: the unworthy celebration of Holy Mass and Communion unworthly received; the meaning of the second sword is: being unfaithful to, and giving up, the vocation as a priest or a religious; and the third sword means: betrayal of the Faith. Our Lady asked for Prayer, Sacrifice, and Penance. These were Her only words.

She was adorned with three beautiful roses:white, red and yellow, which I was allowed to see on the clouded grotto she was beautiful and had olive colored skin/brown long hair and blue eyes. The white rose represented the spirit of prayer, the red one represented the spirit of sacrifice, and the yellow rose the spirit of penance and conversion. I had not yet recognized the Mother of God, and I asked the apparition therefore: Please tell me, who are you?.

In reply to this question She smiled and said: I am the Mother of Jesus and the Mother of all of you. Our Lord sends me to bring a new Marian Devotion to all religious orders and institutes, male and female, and to the priests of this world. I promise to protect those religious orders and institutes who will venerate me in this special way, increase their vocations, and achieve a greater striving for saintliness among the servants of God.

I wish that the 13th July be celebrated each year in honour of the Rosa Mystica (the Mystical Rose) Our Lady of Gentle love…

I wish that the 13th of each month be celebrated as a Marian Day. Special prayers are to be said during the proceeding twelve days. With an expression of great joy, She continued: On this day I shall pour out vocational holiness and abundant graces on those religious orders and spiritual institutes who have honoured me especially.

what do you think santodomingo? Can you tell the bishop about this can you print this out and tell him… to foward this to the pope…:yup: :byzsoc:

I think Ten Thousand Thorns sounds the best.

Please!! This is not what the church teaches!! Stop speaking of things you do not know!! The Church recongizes that the fruits of the Spirit comes in many ways. Yes, we do teach that we are the one true faith established by Christ, but this thread sets Ecumenicalism back years, ignoring decades of work which is still be done and encouraged to this day by our current pope.
Since the Church reconizes baptisms from other faiths as being baptised in to the body of Christ, we see that they have accepted Christ. Your just flat out wrong!

Peace,
FAB

I agree with you that we need not set back Ecumenism.
However, I also understand Requiem’s point. Christ said: “Whoever rejects you rejects Me and the One who sent Me”. So any rejection of Petrine Doctrine and Papal Succession is as bad as it can be.

Only we need to be more circumspect and gentle.😉

I think you will find that most Protestants have not rejected the Papacy. They are born and brought up protestant and don’t even think about the Pope or the Catholic Church.

I was born and brought up Methodist before converting. It never crossed my mind all these years to think about or investigate the Pope or the Catholic Church and so I never rejected anything.

It was only after I married my Catholic wife that I started to have an interest in the Church and through the grace of God and my wife’s prayers (for 10 years) I saw the light and became a Catholic.

Praise God Thistle God bless you and your wife. God shows us the light in the Catholic faith, he is even present in the eucharist too its amazing. I have a calling to become a nun i am 22 years old right now and i have been blessed by God. i have offended you in the last post or if it sounded odd to you sorry thistle…

I actually suspected exactly that.

I am usually blunt in my statements, so they can be taken greatly out of context. I was referring to when Jesus said “Whoever rejects you…”

Also false ecumenism is wrong. The day that Rome reconciles with Protestants by caving in to their demands, is the day I find a sedevacantist church!!

EDIT: Why does this thread even exist? Especially in the trad forum?
Moonflower- I liked the sound of it as well.

Read your Bible and see how many times the Catholic Church is mentioned. Christ’s followers were called Christians, which means “one who belongs to Christ”. One can be a Christian outside of the Catholic Church as well as in.
