Spokenword,

Respectfully, brother, you are guilty of judging a person’s personal relationship on the basis of their belief that the Catholic Church teaches all truth. Just because I (and others) believe that, does not mean that I do not and am not personally led by the Holy Spirit as well. But the Bible warns us we can be deceived. So I always compare that which has been personally revealed to me to that which the Church teaches. If the two conflict, I can have confidence in the promises of the Church that Christ left me to also help guide me to all truth and know that the error is mine and not the Church. Or the error is my understanding of the Church.

What a shame. So much knowledge with a lack of Godly wisdom and understanding. To much theoligy and not enough intimacy.God Bless

If that is not what you meant, please accept my humble apologies. But I have just recently become aware of the mistaken belief by many that just because Catholics look to the Pope, we somehow forfeit a personal leading of the Holy Spirit. It has been frustrating trying to correct this misunderstanding. And doubly frustrating when it appears to come from one of the non-Catholics on this board who actually do not subscribe to the whole “whore of Babylon” kind of thing.

The Protestant communion is defective and Christ is not present in it. The Church teaches this too.

No, if when you asked if Christ is present in a Protestant communion …you mean the “REAL PRESENCE” as in our Catholic Communion Host. The answer is ,"No!"

Why? The Protestant ministers have not been ordained by a valid Bishop. ( A Bishop that traces his linage back to St. Peter and the other Apostles - all Bishops). The Bishop lays hands on a new Priest giving him the keys to God’s Kingdom with certain offices. One of the things a Priest can do is to preside at Mass, and to have a valid Consecration ( allowing the Body and Blood of Jesus to Transubstantiate.)

Only a valid Priest, who has had the hands of a Bishop laid on him can consecrate the Hosts!

Sure, the spirit of Jesus may be in a gathering, BUT, transubtantiation doesn’t take place. Did you know that after the Protestant “communion” they throw away the remaining bread or crackers. Doesn’t sound like it was a big deal, huh? Hey, they know.

**The question concerned a “spiritual” presence, and did not have anything to do with transubstantiation…No protestant would claim this. But, I seen nothing wrong with acknowledging a sprititual presence. Why not? Scripture plainly says that He is present whenever we gather in His name. **
