I’m against the belief of atheism because they are Anti-God. They believe that man can fix its own problems. That is very self centered and I’m proud to be against atheism. I believe Atheism is the ultimate form of the** Anti-Christ**, the beast 666. I also believe most of them are evil. Look at Stalin and Hitler… poor evil… men… They are also Communists… the ultimate evil… the enemy of God
Here’s a thread about Hitler. forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=8452

Every group of people will have bad apples on each side. Look at people like Oliver O’Grady - does that mean all Catholics are evil? Of course not. To generalize like that really does not make a valid argument.

Sorry for the late late reply…
There were Atheists in the times of the Old Testament…there was non-jews that followed Jewish law…there were people that worshiped a cow…there were people that probably just built the temples for the Egyptians and went home had some wine and fell asleep.
If there were atheists in the Old testament - how do we know they are actually atheists, or believers of another faith outside the understanding of the OT’s Jewish writers?
almost all of human history shows this to be the case…the rejection or refusal to believe in him has been around it didn’t just become into being in the 50’s because someone finally got smart???
Rejection or refusal to believe in a particular God do not make a person an atheist - atheism is a rejection of all gods, and any forces that can’t be proven (e.g.psychic powers, ghosts, tarot cards etc.). Atheism as defined in this way never existed in the time of the Old Testament.
Do you think that everyone was convinced to believe in a God they couldn’t see? I’m a Christian and even I don’t believe that to be true and nothing in history backs up that statement…
Early man didn’t understand why stuff happens - why does lightning strike tall trees, why do people get sick and die, etc. and felt that the forces that cause these things must be caused by gods/God. There is no historical record or archeological evidence that suggests atheism existed back in the Stone Age, Bronze Age etc. but there is a lot of evidence for religion and belief in various types of gods and spirits.
…they just didn’t seem to have the notion to build Temples, Kingdoms, and father nations to pronounce their…well…their belief in not believing in anything.
But if these people existed back in beginning of mankind there must be evidence of these atheists. Without archeological evidence, I can’t accept that atheism existed the same time as the old testament.
I however and completely baffled as to why seriously why someone that did not believe anything other than earthly consequences for actions would not be doing anything other than reading SCRIPTURES! WoW! I’d have to tell you…I’d be rolling through sin alley and reading scriptures only to find out what I could actually get away with now!
Not all Christians are the same - some use their religion to do good, other use their religion to do evil. Atheists are the same - some of them good and some of them bad. Actually, it was when I discovered this fact that I became an atheist. Before that I was more of an agnostic.
I mean you can be a relatively decent person and not obey any laws of scripture…see you could cheat on your taxes and as long as the IRS didn’t find out…no consequences…you could LUST with no guilt! I mean come on lust! That’s an easy sin I’d be all over that one…I mean there are no earthly consequences for that one!

And money…wow…I’d be keeping ALL of the money from my paycheck! Let’s see…there’s lots more…but I’m just really confused have you read all that you CAN’T do under the scriptures?
Yes - there’s lots of rules banning all sorts fun staff. But, if u were to try to be a good person (without reading the scriptures) there would still be a lot of stuff u can’t do. Having moral values does not mean u have to believe in God. i’ve met lots of good people who believe in God, gods, ghosts or none of the above. The fact that they don’t believe in the Catholic God - does this make them evil, even if they live good lives?
More blessings to you…hope that doesn’t offend you…but I myself questioned the existence of God and studied scripture, scientology, zen, mormonism, catholics, and even the church of Bob…no lie…and really found out that all along God was talking to me…he just didn’t have the face of a Baptist preacher or George Bush…he was quite…cool and Godly.

Thanks for the talk…I’ve learned alot and now have something to discuss with my next class.

Anything else you have let me know…I’m finding you quite interesting and I mean that wholeheartedly.
Hey thanks. u r pretty decent urself.

Communism isn’t a bad thing - it’s just the people that believed in it went round doing the wrong things. Same goes for religion - the history of Christianity is full of atrocities against non-believers. Does that make religion evil?

BTW - Hitler isn’t an atheist. He is a practising catholic who dabbled in astrology and paganism. His book Mein Kampf is full of comments about how God is on his side, God will aid the rise of the German people, etc. I don’t think an atheist would write a book about God being on his side…

He wasn’t but he didn’t practiced what he preached. If he was indeed a practicing Catholic he would not be killing Jews. He would not have send Catholics to death camps. Communist however are atheists, and I believe Stalin killed more people than Hitler.

It doesn’t matter who killed the most - murder of one person or mass murder of many is wrong. It also doesn’t matter whether the person doing the killing is Christian or atheist.

Hitler sent Catholics to the death camps because they wouldn’t do what he wanted, not because they were Catholics.

And saying that Hitler is not a Catholic because he is non-practising or didn’t follow all the rules is a cop-out that allows the Church (or whoever is in charge) to claim no acts of murder/genocide were ever committed by someone of their religion.

Not all Communists are atheists. Not all atheists are Communists. To lump both together shows ignorance of both atheism and Communism.

And that’s just another way of saying that you have no idea what I’m thinking.

As a matter of fact, I worship nothing.
What you put as your first priority in life, is what you ā€œworshipā€.

The Government of Communism invoke atheistic views. Officially they are atheist.

No true Scotsman, huh?

Atheism and communism are not synonymous. Being an atheist does not mean you are a communist.
Communism is not, however, inherently atheistic. It is possible to hold communist or socialist economic views while being a theist and it isn’t at all uncommon to be an atheist while staunchly defending capitalism — a combination often found among Objectivists and Libertarians, for example. Their existence alone demonstrates, without question, that atheism and communism are not the same thing.

Please back up what you are saying instead of just making accusations and spewing hate about a group you do not like.

What you put as your first priority in life, is what you ā€œworshipā€.
My family is first priority in my life. There are significant things I want to do, that I do not, for the betterment of my family. There are also things I personally do not want to do, but do anyways, for my family.

So are you saying I worship my family?

ā€œYou shall have no other gods before meā€

I don’t have *any *god.
exactly. if you don’t put God first in your life, then you’re breaking the commandment.

And that’s just another way of saying that you have no idea what I’m thinking.

As a matter of fact, I worship nothing.
if you don’t subscribe to anything, you actually subscribe to only one thing - yourself. instead of following God’s morals, you follow your own. instead of following God’s laws regarding what is wrong or right, you follow only what you think is wrong or right. when you study God more it will become more clear.

Self“ism
**n.****1.**Concentration of one’s interests on one’s self; self-love; selfishness.
if you want to become a better person, grow in character, strength, spirit, achieve ultimate peace and happiness, you must let go of what you think is right and wrong - which is faulty, and follow that which is perfect, which is God. sure you can accomplish some of these on your own, to a very limited extent, but this is where faith comes in to show you that to do so would be holding you back like an iron ball and chain.

you have access to the greatest discovery in human history, in all of existence. don’t let it go because of pride. think of your family and descendants…

Unlike all other creatures ever created we were made with a concious to know right from wrong.

From Adam and Eve, Headhunters in the jungle, the murderer, we all know when we are doing wrong as Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge.

A Human not ever hearing of God knows him and as such chooses to follow his concious (God) or the flesh and sin. One may not have the full understanding but knows there is something greater than himself unlike an animal. No an atheist knows of God but chooses to deny his own concious supposedly.

An moral Atheist is an individual to whom follows just below Gods Commandments as he will not submit his will to another —Jesus Christ.

I’m the one that voted maybe. If you mean does it say it’s wrong… of course it does. If you mean does it justify hatred of people because they have no belief in God. NO.

i don’t think, i could be wrong, that christians ever killed atheists. however, there are plenty of times in history where atheists killed theists.

I think you will find many more instances of theists of one flavor killing theists of another.

I’m not an atheist, but I think some of the points made here aren’t quite valid. For example, the one about the apple. If the apple were invisible, the example would be much more valid. The athiest doesn’t believe in gods because he isn’t aware of proof that they exist, not to mention the fact that he’s never seen one. Thus, to make the comparison more comparable, the apple would have to be invisible.

I know a few atheists, and they don’t have a belief that gods don’t exist; they simply don’t have a belief that they do.

What proof would an atheist need?

Would he need to put his fingers in the hands of Christ or in his side?

I would say that an atheist is one who puts own personal comforts above his beliefs and common sense

The old story is true there are no atheist in a fox hole.

Military 22 years.

An atheists mind set is I swear there is no heaven and pray there is no hell.

I have time to enjoy life rather than come at or above the line of belief and to conform.

I suppose that would vary from individual to individual. What would it take for you to believe in a god you don’t believe in now?

You certainly seem anxious to pass judgement on people you don’t even know. Jesus taught his followers not to do that.

I know atheists who are much more ethical and moral than many christians I know. It’s more about the person than about the religion he has or doesn’t have.

No, the thing about no atheists in fox holes is not true.

Military 20 years (as if that makes any difference).
