the Eagles have much to repent for with the way they played last season. I am willing to forgive them so long as they do better or show improvement this year.
Amen:thumbsup:

The same feeling I have about being Lutheran.Thatās one of the things I appreciate with being Catholic. The Catholic Church does not micromanage your life.![]()
Oh, absolutely! Just try opposing some liberals on a given social justice issue. :bigyikes:the Eagles have much to repent for with the way they played last season. I am willing to forgive them so long as they do better or show improvement this year.
I donāt find Christianity in general to be controlling. As others have said there are pseudo-Christian cults and such that use the faith of followers in a controlling manner.** I think the other side (liberals) can be much more controlling or trying to take control**. .
Thanks be to God for that!Thatās one of the things I appreciate with being Catholic. The Catholic Church does not micromanage your life.![]()
Well, catechesis always needs a boost, but scrupulosity is just their cross to bear, just as you and I each have ours. It is just that their cross is apparent to us.perhaps, or maybe its a sign that catechesis has gone off the track.
Iāll take your word for it about scrupulosity, Iāve never really understood it.Well, catechesis always needs a boost, but scrupulosity is just their cross to bear, just as you and I each have ours. It is just that their cross is apparent to us. ā¦
It seems to me to be related to OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder). It is a real struggle, and I am thankful for my own cross and not this one. Scrupulosity, if unchecked, can become a sin, as it leaves one in perpetual doubt of Godās mercy. It can sap the joy of being Catholic - even of being alive.Iāll take your word for it about scrupulosity, Iāve never really understood it.
It sure micromanages your sex life!Thatās one of the things I appreciate with being Catholic. The Catholic Church does not micromanage your life.![]()

How is that? By upholding the virtues of marriage, chastity, the giving of life, healthy and holy relationships; by viewing the opposite sex as a person with dignity rather than an object of pleasure? Just how does the Church micromanage your sex life?It sure micromanages your sex life!

Also, a lot of the āis this a sinā threads that come about may just be trolls. I lost count of all the āI am addicted to masturbationā threads where the person who started the thread has all of 1 post and they are never heard from again.perhaps, or maybe its a sign that catechesis has gone off the track.
I think that is certainly true. And on a personal level it seems to me far too many Christians are unwilling to sacrifice pleasure and entertainment for anything. A simple example is with fasting. It seems to me that not just a hundred years ago even Protestants would engage in fasting. And this at a time when people did not have the abundance of food we have now. The frequency, intensity and commitment to fasting seems to me nothing like it was just a hundred years ago. I think today too many lack spiritual and bodily discipline. We have promoted freedom above discipline.I think the problem is christianity is becoming less controlling, less impactful on western culture. Suddenly everything which was immoral ten years ago is now moral and the futurist standard.
I agree but I also see a lot of bizarre threads apparently honestly asking, e.g., whether its a sin to french kiss or date for the fun of it. this might be passed off as immaturity, but the number of answers to the effect that dating should only be for chaste discernment of a future spouse, etc. ā given to a 16 year old ā suggests to me that catechesis has gone off the track. Also, a lot of the āis this a sinā threads that come about may just be trolls. ā¦:
Itās always been that way, if you looked for it. I would not want to be a Hasidic Jew, Amish, southern fundi, nor Opus Dei.I came across a board discussing this⦠I think my Religion is getting too controlling. Everyone said Christians should NOT go to amuesment parks and, get this, Sporting events! ā¦
I think Christianity is getting too controlling. However, Iām open to all opinions.
