Is cultural marxism just a myth or conspiracy theory created by right wing conservatives?

No, it’s not. Each side has unwritten lists in their heads. These are good guys, these are enemies. It’s just a fact. Hate, as is often used here and by activists, is the easiest way to shut down any conversation. Just another fact.

I still find “cultural Marxism” a vague term, as it is not so easy to label someone a cultural Marxist.

It’s very easy. Leftists prefer the label. Change is an idol, even a god.

Don’t label people? OK. So I should avoid calling people Catholics or Democrats or Republicans? These labels are more clear to me.

So the problem is that the things you’ve named in your definition - some might correlate. But like any political thing, a simple reduction won’t be nearly nuanced enough to describe the people in it.

The other problem is that while there are some things that correlate, you’ve labeled quite a few things that are boogeymen - white genocide and miscegenation? That white women should be encouraged to have interracial children? These are straight out of the 50s, and the only groups that trade in these kind of terms and worries are fringe group that are not typical of the Right.

I guess my point is - be careful about lumping diverse and very different things into one big umbrella term. Especially when that umbrella term has a fuzzy meaning.

From what I have observed, a cultural Marxist is anyone who sees any disparity between two individuals who have something different about them (race, sexual preference, sex, ethnicity, shoe size, etc.) as the result of systemic injustice and excludes other likely explanation like individual volition and biology.

Like economic Marxists, they are collectivists and people in collective justice, hence their propensity to divide people up in groups and loathing of people who step outside the lines they have drawn around them.

as you can probably guess, I just picked a definition from google. Didn’t spend too much time worrying about whether it was biased or not.

Try to use the label on specific ideas rather than people or groups.

Moral relativism is cultural Marxism.

It’s not so much that it’s biased. I mean, some people might find the label problematic but, we can call it “Banana Pickles” so long as we know what we’re talking about.

Like I said, you labeled quite a few things that are real things. But a lot in your definition is right-wing scare mongering.

Yes I can see that it is easy to jump to conclusions and make generalisations if these labels are used to loosely, without caution.
Someone like Brendan Oneill seems to use the term “cultural Marxism” accurately. Is that right?

But a lot in your definition is right-wing scare mongering.
I was beginning to think that everyone agreed with the definition. Now I see that people like yourself don’t like the definition.

There might very well be people who can checkmark every single thing you’ve listed under the definition? Then I guess it would be appropriate? But I suspect that’s going to be rare.

The whole “on no, they’re coming to get the white women!” would make me laugh, if it wasn’t so disheartening that people still think that way.

Things are part of the definition or not. Avoid taking too much from posts that include emotion words. Certain defined groups exist. Period. Any “stragglers” do not represent the majority.

I’m just trying to keep an open mind so I can debate these topics more carefully.

You’ll need to do some detailed research. Wiki is a start but as you develop a knowledge base, you’ll see it’s pretty cut and dried. There are people on the Left and on the Right. And they believe certain things and/or want to do certain things. “Change” is a high ‘holy’ word.
