Is it a mortal sin to be angry at something and cuss it? For example, to cuss a car or the internet connection?

@DeepDeepTrouble3 wrong.

That is not Catholic teaching.

Cussing IS a sin. OP, your example would likely constitute venial sin

Cussing is usually a venial sin.

I learned from Catholic textbooks used in seminaries that crude speech is not a sin. Where do you learn it is a venial sin?

Crude speech is different from cussing.

Using cuss words like the f bomb is different from using crude speech like saying “aww this guy in front of me is driving like a zipperhead!” vs “this guy in front of me is an f bomb”.

The former is a little crude, but probably not even venially sinful. The latter is both crude and cussing, and as such it is venially sinful.

Colossians 3:8 “But now put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and foul talk from your mouth.”

Ephesians 4:29 “Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for edifying, as fits the occasion, that it may impart grace to those who hear.”

Also Ephesians 5:4
“No obscenity or silly or suggestive talk [should even be mentioned among you]”

You are right. I did really cuss. Christmas is near and I’m afraid I would have no more chance to confess. If it’s a mortal sin I won’t be able to receive Holy Communion.

In Moral Theology, what you call profanity, or cuss words, we call crude speech.

It’s not mortal.

Pray an act of Contrition and try not to do it again. Be at peace.

Maybe the Apostles reffer here to putting a curse on someone? That would be true evil comin from the mouth of a believer. Like to wish someone to receive punishment from God sooner.

Maybe so, but Ephesians 5:4 is even clearer:

“No obscenity or silly or suggestive talk [should even be mentioned among you]”

@DeepDeepTrouble3 then enlighten me.

Can you show me where in the Scriptures, or the Catechism, or the Fathers or anywhere else, or even where a theologian argues that cussing is not even venially sinful?

These comments you are making are calumnies and scandolous.
