You make a good point. If something is guided, then chance disappears. The arrow, the bow and the target have no intelligence (assuming chemistry and physics as part of the equation). The archer takes the bow and arrow, selects a target, aims and fires.

The illusion of design becomes actual design.

You have missed the point. Regardless of whether one accepts evolution or creation, scientific understanding relies on facts, not theories that can’t be tested. This is very simple, very basic common sense, but it seems that your confusion prevents you from grasping it.

Does the term “untestable theory” mean anythng to you? Even theories about aliens are more testable than microbe-man evolution (ie, if an alien shows up, the theories are verified).

Here is something for Catholic teachers to think about:

In Providentissimus Deus (No.18), Pope Leo XIII condemned those who abused science and used it to vilify the contents of Sacred Scripture … because “the young, if they lose their reverence for the Holy Scripture on one or more points, are easily led to giving up believing altogether.”

“It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea, than that he would cause one of these little ones to stumble” - Jesus Christ (Luke 17:2).

I don’t think you know what “axiom” means
Axiom was an Australian rock band from the 60’s.

When genetics finally proves that microbe-man evolution is impossible, atheists will suicide by the millions.

I don’t know. Ask God. Creation was a miracle and therefore full of mystery.

Yes. Sadly. The slow poisoning of the Body of Christ in the West took decades
More like, centuries … at least as far back as the Enlightenment. What happened in the 60’s was not the beginning od the process; it was the culmination of the process, which saw the once-mighty dam of Christianity finally collapse after centuries of slow but inexorable corrosion.

It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’
Tell me again about testability.

You know that ID is being used as proof of God’s existence. And yet, it requires God as an axiom. Circles are pretty, but do not make great scientific theories.

Please provide one example of how the theory that all life on earth evolved from microbes has proven useful in applied science.

Here is a possible example of a kind of devolution: I imagine that if you took all the various breeds of domestic dogs and let them go in the wild, over the generations, the collective phenotype would eventually return to what these dogs were originally bred from - the wolf, or something very much like it.

ID, the science makes no such claims. It looks for evidence of design in nature.

Id, the philosophy does. Evolutionism, the philosophy also does.

Science requires healthy scepticism and evaluating critically. Otherwise it’s just a religion.
You are prepared to be skeptical about evolution? How dare you! Stone the infidel!

But faith in science can form the basis of a cult mentality. In this way it is very similar to and can be just as powerful as religious faith.

Modern biology and genetics uses the findings of the evolution of life forms extensively in research, especially in the arena of micro-biology.
