Leonius,
Please do not get upset at the posters on this thread who seem to be telling all of us long-time Catholics what the rule is NOW.
WE ARE NOT WRONG TO BELIEVE AS WE HAVE BEEN TAUGHT.
The good holy nuns taught me as a child to go to frequent confession so as to learn to live a good and spiritual life and to grow in grace and love of God.
I don’t care what the new agers say. That is what I still believe to be true and what I abide by.
How can one make the First Friday devotion or the Frist Saturday devotion without going to Confession monthly? Can’t be done.
How can one go to daily Mass and receive the Blessed Sacrament without confession. Can’t be done, unless, of course, you are a Saint, as I am beginning to believe some of the posters are.
The CCC (#290) says that the Church recommends … receive Holy Communion whenever they participate at Holy Mass. However, the Church OBLIGES them to receive Holy Communion at least once a year during the Easter season.
I was told by a poster that I was taught wrongly when I said I was taught as a child that we absolutely had to go to Confession as our “Easter Duty”. I was not wrong, the poster was.
So, Leonius, I am with you, but don’t get angry. Then you would need to go to Confession.
