Hi, Catholic90,

Great post - it was a lot of fun to read! šŸ‘ When it comes to conslusive evidence - if the first three letter don’t give it to you … it just doesn’t exist! 😃 The only think I am not sure about is how well this actually plays out in languages other than English…

God bless
God does not hate cats. That is pretty obvious - afterall, we are all CATholics. The lion laid down with the lamb, and lions are a part of the cat family.

There is even a LOL Cat Bible translation!

Oh, hai…kthxbai!

Those wasps that build big nests on houses are not the kind protected under nature conservancy. Those protected wasps are solitary wasps and not the kind to sting animals or people, not the big ones that live in huge nests or colonies and attack people and animals.

I eradicated at least 6 big wasp nests this summer - I stopped counting after a while. There is only one remaining, and it is way up high in the peak of my house - over 40 feet high, so I cannot get there. I suppose I could put up my 26 foot ladder and climb up and then spray, but I just don’t want to get that close! Beside, soon enough, they will all freeze and die.
I think wasps don’t return to an old nest. They go elsewhere and build a fresh one.

If it is a sin to exterminate ants then it is a sin to step on your lawn because there are bugs virtually everywhere outside. Insects aren’t even capable of conscious thought - thus they can’t even feel pain, nonetheless be upset about being squashed or poisoned. How on earth could it be a sin???

Scrupulosity is a possibility, but so is Substitutionary Morality. A good example that comes to mind is a former co-worker, that was so faithful to Global Warmingism, that she recycled coffee stir sticks, and, of course, was a vegan, but she also donated huge sums of money to Planned Parenthood, had abortions, and was seriously sexually indiscriminate. I wish we could trade one of those coffee stir sticks for one of the dead babies.
I know that my question sounds like something that a liberal would ask, but I’m not a liberal. I accept 100% of the teachings of the Catholic Church, and liberals hate me for it. I tell my kids that if there is ever any dispute about what the true teachings of the Catholic Church are to go with what the Pope teaches and you can’t go wrong.

**As you state, there is no reason to kill spiders provided they’re not one of the aggressive and deadly varieties. **They serve useful functions, such as trapping flies and also bed bugs I’m told, as well as keeping to themselves for the most part. I don’t believe they transmit disease the way mosquitoes and roaches do, though they may carry diseases.

Back to ants, I wonder if some hesitation in killing them may derive from the fact they are highly intelligent compared to most other insects.
ALL spiders are aggressive and deadly. They look at me with their eight eyes and are just waiting for me to look somewhere else so they can jump on me and eat me! shudder

I try to abide by the ā€œinside, kill it; outside, let it beā€ argument, but spiders are met with immediate destruction via stealth attacks if I can. Otherwise I stay far, far away.

Hi, Neildown,

You know … I do not know how we can stop at sinning concerning the killing of ants - when there is all of these weeds and unwanted grasses that most homeowners take great efforts at killing every year! There must be all kinds of sin with every step we take! 😃

Maybe it is time (or, past time) to put some kind of intellecutal break on this run-away sin train?

God bless

back up your opinion with official Church teaching
2417 God entrusted animals to the stewardship of those whom he created in his own image.198
Notice, the animals are entrusted to those created in His image, so animals themselves are not created in His image.
Hence it is legitimate to use animals for food and clothing. They may be domesticated to help man in his work and leisure. Medical and scientific experimentation on animals is a morally acceptable practice if it remains within reasonable limits and contributes to caring for or saving human lives.
2418 It is contrary to human dignity to cause animals to suffer or die needlessly. It is likewise unworthy to spend money on them that should as a priority go to the relief of human misery. One can love animals; one should not direct to them the affection due only to persons.
That last point just gets trampled to death by so many people. What people will do for, or with, animals, that they won’t dream of doing for persons. Notice again, that animals are considered as not included among those that are persons. Animals are not persons.

I committed boxelder bug genocide today.

You know those ugly bugs that are 1/2 inch long, black and red, and congregate on the sunny side of your house?

Yeah…killed, removed, or displaced several hundred today.

It was nice and warm again today, so I was doing some stuff outside. I came around to the front of my house to see the sun-exposed front door and front living room side COVERED with these stupid bugs. I could not enter my front door without having some get inside. I first got the hose and sprayed, sprayed, sprayed. Slowly and deliberately, they all flew and/or marched right back to their previous local. So…got out the Ortho Home Defense and sprayed the front door area to remove the currents keep them and any other insects away.

My answer was rather blunt and frank, but that may be because I took your question seriously, and gave a serious answer. I’m pleased to learn that you are not a liberal, but it surely is something I see from them quite a bit.

Hi, Catholic90,

Maybe it is my imagination … but I thinkj we have moved from a note of ridicule to a chord… or two! 😃

God bless

Right! And now that I think of it - if ants can’t even think or feel pain, yet it’s a sin… It would be sinful to kill grass too. And the poor dirt is always getting stepped on. And the air is constantly being violently sucked into our lungs. We are just evil, murdering, meat machines.

I agree entirely, though it seems our posts have been disregarded. 🤷

Vegans are great. Instead of killing one cow a year to live on they harvest all the food out from under billions of insects that then go starve to death. Talk about vicious!

I have never heard of any group wanting to protect wasps!
Ha - you don’t know our silly Greens 🤷
It’s true. Here in Germany this blasted German Wasps VESPULA GERMANICA (I didn’t even know we had own German speaking Wasps) but see yourself here:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wasps
theese blinking horrid things really and in fact are here under nature conservancy and you violate the law if you kill such hound of hell. And the Greens will kill you (as you are not under nature conservaty) when you harm a hornet too!
I never ared a dime - so I’m a criminal 😊 Obviously the Greens recruit wasps and hornets for their protection. Hopefully some Wasps don’t know and sting them šŸ‘

Ah, those are under this funny law too. We here got a huge free field, that can not be used, beause it’s the home of some ichneumon flies (here called …wasp too). But the Vespula vulgaris as hornets is more protected than I. Here even old trees might not be cut down, if some funny beetles live in it - then the tree must be expensively supported
As to ā€œGod hates catsā€: I too hope this was not meant seriously 😦

Of course even I know, that wasps eat flies, and so do some good too as redemption. So - no harm meant to the dear little things (and hornets eat wasps - a murderous lot) 😊

Yours
Bruno

Well, I would be a law breaker, too! I usually remove the wasp nests at night, because they are not active at night, so I would just continue this practice.

So far this morning, the score is big ugly Spiders with horribly fast movement in my house 0, me 2. 😃

It is not a sin. People kill ants everyday. Nothing is wrong with that. And regarding the ā€œbut they don’t do anything to usā€ argument, neither do cows. However, they taste good. (ants don’t taste good, but you get the point). 😃
Ants lol That is hysterical. The picture of out Demons. lol How did you get that? :rotfl:

I just cannot fathom the ruthlessness of my fellow human plant-predators ripping our rooted friends out of the earth, accompanied by the tiny, imperceptible screams from innocent vegetative souls, all because they rank their human life as somehow superior to other forms in the created sphere. To compound the crime, billions of our defenseless, immobile vegetable ancestors are raised on farms strictly for the purpose of harvest. Oh, the chlorophyl-shed is simply ghastly.

Seriously, the plain fact is that for us to live, something living has to die.

Hi, Po18Guy,

Such posts risks the possibility of having one’s cheek permanently distended by the tongueā€¦šŸ˜ƒ

Oh, I had really never thought of ā€˜vegetative souls’ (ah, would those be vegetables lacking in spontaneous movement and having flat EEG tracings…?) There is some confusion about leaves being blown about in the wind and genuine spontaneous movement (like supressing a laugh at such posts! :D)

Is there any merciful ending to this? Somehow the idea of maraudering vegans is very disquieting for those of us ā€˜rooted’ to the idea only veggies will keep some of us going (and McDonald’s will keep the others of us going - but, just not as long!)

It is hard to concentrate… I will sign off for now. But, please, I can’t handle any more lamentations on spilled chlorophyl!

God bless

Ah yes…I can just about hear the screams of the tenacious weeds in my garden this past weekend as I both yanked them up by their roots and ruthlessly mowed the standing vegetation off mere inches above the soil…shredded plant matter everywhere!

And then there was the lawn grass…millions, possibly billions, of straight, tall blades, suddenly and violently sheered off! And for what? To provide food for something? No! Only sheered off for the mere purpose of having the wee plants be even shorter! The horror!

(and the mouse traps have been re-set in my house, because even though I went about 1 week with no signs of mice, there were definite signs of mice left this morning…so the rodenticide will continue until further notice…).

So, what about bacteria? They’re alive, and some can be very harmful?

As for vegetarians and vegans, their hands are just as bloody as us meat eaters. Think of Mr. McMouseington heading to work in the organic wheat field, leaving his wife and 208 children in their little house… suddenly, what’s that sound? Its the harvester and suddenly Mrs. McMousington has to provide a DNA sample from her husband’s comb.

Think of all the little mousies living peacefully in the vegan feeding fields of wheat! Oh the Moustanity!
