I received a troubling message from a young man on the internet, he asked me a question that I can not answer. He lives in a constant state of turmoil and wants to know if he is going to Hell. I told him to type what he wanted to ask and that I know this great forum to ask. So please give me good, honest and kind advice to tell him. “I am a male in my twenties who suffers from severe depression and anxiety disorder. The state has declared me mentally ill. I desire with all my heart to serve Jesus, go to Mass, and receive the sacraments. I try to do good all the time and despise sin. Yet, I am trapped in an awful situation. I am kept from going to church to become Catholic and am denied to fully pursue Jesus as I want. I am trapt in a homosexual relationship and I have no way to escape. I pray daily for deliverance and have heard from Jesus that He will deliever me. I pray daily to do God’s will, but I am forced to commit sin if I don’t he will throw me out. I have no where to go and no family and with my mental illnesses I know I will die. So to me it would be suicide to leave. Jesus knows my heart, I don’t desire this but only Him. I promised Him when He delievers me I will go to Mass every time I can and not sin anymore. I do not drive and can not work. Am I going to Hell?”

I have talked to him many times and I believe he sincerely loves the Lord. What do I say? He says the Lord told Him that He would deliever him. What should I say in the meantime?

The only answer that matters is one in real life from a PRIEST.
Ask him to go see one.
And yes, also pray for him.
I will too.

Jesus guarantees freedom from the curse of sin and the fear of death with the sacrifice He made upon the cross and nothing can block you from His hand if you truely seek Him with all of your heart, mind and soul. Nothing can ever change that, it is a FACT.

Who or what do you think is actually telling him he is going to hell and messing with his mind?

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.

God may not always be pleased with our lifestyles but He loves us no matter what and nothing can interfere with that.
Gay, straight, bi, it doesn’t matter. He loves you more than you can possibly imagine and all you need do is ask for forgiveness. We have all fallen short.

If you confessed all your past sins,
your participating in this homosexual
relationship will NOT be mortal, since
you are FORCED to do it, it doesn’t matter
that you may or may not enjoy it, it will
still be a venial sin and if you have contrition
for it, YOU WILL NOT go to hell.
Peace, my bro. in Christ.

Our Father, who is in heaven,
hallowed be Your Name,
Your kingdom come,
Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses as
we forgive those who trespass against us,
(forgive our debts as we forgive our debtors)
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is w/ you,
blessed are you among women,
blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners now and
at the hour of our death.
Amen. (X3)

Sin committed under duress is not sin, or is less of a person’s fault.

That said, if the man is truly trapped in his situation, the charitable thing would be to find him a new home, and some help to keep him on an even keel. Talk to your priest, as he will probably know about stuff available in your area.

Of course, you should consider the possibility that the gentleman is making some of this up, or that his depression is making him take an all or nothing view of his situation. It does happen. Just keep your eyes open while helping.

These are both untrue, and lack the trust in the Lord.there are many resources, perhaps you could correspond with some research. Homes, state help, charitable places etc… assuming he is genuine, his major obstacle is not one. Like the three men who did not reject God and did not burn in the fire, only here he does not face the fire, he faces a life of maybe not being comfortable and having to live in a shelter or halfway house type place… not quite a fire.

The answer is that a disabled person does not have to serve as a sexual object in exchange for a place to live. This person can be rescued and put in touch with available social services.

He is afraid of going to Hell because he says every time he turns on the Catholic radio stations it’s about the war with homosexuality. He believes homosexuality is evil, but it’s just disheartning for your particular sin to be the hot button issue of the time. I believe him when he says that he desires celibacy.

I can’t say for sure, but my gut feels truth. I don’t know what he has to gain from lying.
Ehhh… it could be legit so I hate to overly cast doubt. But alot of people nowadays for some reason get their rocks off with such things. I have met some internet people with some strange lies seeking nothing in normal satisfaction. People with cancers etc that don’t, never seeking money or anything, just to live the fake life and get some strange joy in fooling people.

Even a priest can’t tell someone they are going to Hell; that is between the soul and God.

Very true as we humans don’t know for sure how God as infinite mercy and justice will play out in the end at judgement. All we know is that it will be perfectly just as God knows all things and searches men’s hearts.

I know. I was just saying that this forum is not the place to find these kinds of answers. Nothing replaces the counsel of a holy priest.
The man in question needs a priest.
Bless you GEddie, 👍

We do know however that certain behaviors are sinful and can put a soul at extreme risk of Hell as set out in God’s word. It is our job to warn each other in love about these risks. We condemn sin, not sinners. Cause Sinner s “r” us!

I agree with pianistclare: please advise your friend to seek the counsel of a priest.

The very fact that you are asking for advice on what to say demonstrates that you are not adequately prepared and formed to address these types of concerns.

We need to avoid as much as possible the attempt to usurp for ourselves the roles that are best filled by Father.

If he’s that worried about it and truly desires to server Our Lord, then likelihood is he’ll never see Hell.

Those bound for Hell generally are not concerned about it.

Also, let’s not be distracted too much by the homosexual angle here. This would also be true if a heterosexual woman felt “trapped” in such an abusive relationship, and felt she had no choice but to submit to a man’s sexual demands, or be thrown out onto the streets.
