Is holding hands and kissing before marriage a sin?

if the sensibilities of MANY of the saint were expressed by modern laity, including those on CAF, they would be ridiculed and dismissed as “scrupulous.”
I am just going to point out one thing: St. Alphonsus suffered from extreme scrupulosity—and that is by his own account.

This comment has nothing to do with the subject matter at hand, or what is the correct position in moral theology about what is a mortal sin in dating.

If i met someone at a party and we felt mutual attraction, so i held her hand and kissed her on her lips…as in a peck, is this a sin?

What of these things? Do you believe that we should all follow these opinions and beliefs?
I believe that the opinions and beliefs of saints carry more merit and credibility than those of strangers on the internet. That is the sum of my contribution to this thread.

By this logic, we should all just embrace scrupulosity as the ultimate form of “playing it safe.”
When we consider what is trully at stake… if we REALLY believe in and fathom (as best as possible) the concept of eternity, it would seem like we would be sacrificing peanuts in order to do so. But alas, the allure of temporal pleasures is so great that it hardly seems so simple.

I should note, however, that my definition of scrupulosity probably differs from your own.
