Ireland is a Catholic country just because they have been for so many years. And I think they will continue to be one too. You could kind of make the same point about Italy, France, Germany, etc.

Dear ol’ Ireland is going through a tough time, and the Church in Ireland is going through a tough time. The Church is being persecuted, and evil runs rampant throughout Ireland’s society.

But, in the end, TRUTH shall prevail.

It seems to me that the era in which some whole nationalities are Catholic is coming to an end, at least in the West. The Church will survive, but Catholics will be minorities in secular/non-Catholic countries.

I just wanted to say that I converted to Catholicism sometime after the dark revelations of the sex-abuse scandals. It is a terrible shame that will plague the Church for many years to come, but I would rather stand by my brothers and sisters in Christ, here in the Universal, United, Holy and Continual Church given to us by Christ our Lord, rather than abandon it and leave it forever in the hands of pedophelia priests who tarnish the shining reputation of the Catholic Church. It’s important to remember that this Church doesn’t belong to Pope Benedict, corrupt cardinals or pedophilia-priests, it belongs to Jesus Christ. We are the faith of the Catholic Church. I will fight for my Church. I will not allow pedophiles and irresponsible conspiracy workers destroy Christ’s legacy. The Church has dealt with heresies, hardships and hypocrycies in the past, and we’ll deal with them now. Because we have Christ’s promise, that the powers of hell will not overthrow His Church…

I still have faith in that.

Perhaps this will result in a humbler and holier Church in Ireland even if it is smaller…

The slant of the media may not accurately represent the feelings of the people. I suspect that, like the US media, the Irish media’s view of the Church is much less accepting than that of the everyday person.

AMEM! brother. You said right. the Church belongs to the Living God. No one will have the power to fight God and win.

The enemy is trying to take the Church away from Christ just like he always tried to take the creation from God. We will stand with Christ and His Church.

👍👍👍 well said!

Due to poor catechesis in most of the western World over the last 40 years, there is a real problem in this day of relativism and secularism, and bad media.

Regardless of the Country we are from, we must promote the reading of the “Catechism of the Catholic Church, Second Edition” to all those over age 15.

Promote the YOU CAT (Youth Catechism of the Catholic Church) for teens.

Give them appropriately as GIFTS for: Birthdays, Catholic weddings, Christmas, Easter, Anniversaries, Graduations, etc.
What better gift than helping to save the Souls of those you love !

The Catechism is also available on-line, for those who are interested. The problem seems to be getting them interested. BTW, I have a copy of that cathechism, and believe it to be a well done source document. 👍

Across the globe Catholics should feel joy that they are living in such times. This is a time during which many Saints can must rise. The Church has had its periods of genuine turmoil since Jesus Ascended. It will not stop until Jesus returns. Ireland, just like all Europe and the USA and Mexico, and Canada, etc…needs Saints to rise in the order of Saint Patrick, or even Saints Peter and Paul.
