Episodic as opposed to doctrinal? So the inquisition, Crusades, subjugation of Eastern Europe, etc. wasn’t doctrinal? Even though the Papacy supported it and so did virtually the entire Catholic clergy?

Only as described by the Quran and Sunnah and only in an Islamic state which truly follows all aspects of the Shariah.

Not if you truly understood what the Shariah is. Asking non-Muslims to pay a small token tax in exchange for exemption from conscription is hardly ‘forced’ conversion.
Need I remind you that Christian Mideasterners were subjected to a MUCH LOWER tax during the Muslim rule then they were during Orthodox Byzantine rule?
It’s almost as if you’re explaining the conversion of an entire Christian region and the birthplace of Christianity on the basis of a small tax. Too scared to consider the truth?

Wasn’t Jesus the one who (according to your NT) claimed that you will know a tree by its fruits?
Well, if he was telling the truth, then I guess your ‘it was never doctrinal’ argument doesn’t work.
Because if the followers (fruit) of Christianity have committed more violence and more forced conversions than basically the rest of the world’s religions combined, that makes me feel quite scared of the tree.
So claiming it wasn’t doctrine won’t help you here.

Speaking of taking things out of context, Ali, you are just as guilty as anyone you accused earlier of doing so. Just because somebody is a follower of Christianity doesn’t mean that is the “fruit” that Christ is talking about. He is talking about the fruits of the Holy Spirit - that somebody who is truly united w/ Christ and has the Holy Spirit dwelling in their soul, and follows His way will bear good fruits. Nobody lives perfectly (like Christ was perfect, w/out sin), and their are followers of Christianity who don’t always bear good fruits. That doesn’t mean we settle for “we aren’t perfect”, but as Christians we should always strive to live how Jesus did - only then will we truly bear the fruits of the Holy Spirit that Christ is talking about.
Incidents like this happen in India ALL the time. It’s called ethnic identification. Muslims in India see themselves as one ethnic group. As do the Hindus. And the Jains. And the Christians. And so and so forth.

When religious violence happens in India, everyone knows that ‘religious’ violence is basically ethnic violence.

Anyone who’s read the Quran or the Prophet’s life will know that the actions you mentioned are no way justified by Islam.
Sitting here and arguing about whose history is more violent doesn’t do anything for anyone. It is a waste of time, and what we should be discussing is the doctrinal differences, and beliefs, of the different religions.

The difference is that there has also been the issue of the laity not following the admonitions of the clerics…it happens every year for 2,000 years now.

The Catholic universal Church upholds the dignity of woman going back to Christ and the Samaritan woman at the well, and HIs employ of Mary Magdalen as the first follower and witness to the empty tomb after the Resurrection.

I believe that there’s a report on the Hadits telling that Aisha felt pain on her chest due to Muhammad beating her…or if not beating, some sort of physical assault
It’s amazing how Muslims who think they know all about their prophet, fail to see his faults. Here’s the quote from Muslim where Muhammad beat Aisha on the chest.
When sleeping with Aisha Muhammad surreptitiously left his bed and went to the graveyard at Baqi; Aisha spied and followed Muhammad; when Muhammad learned Aisha’s misdeed he hit her (beat her) on her chest that caused much pain to Aisha…4.2127
Book 004, Number 2127: Muhammad b. Qais said (to the people): Should I not narrate to you (a hadith of the Holy Prophet) on my authority and on the authority of my mother? We thought that he meant the mother who had given him birth. He (Muhammad b. Qais) then reported that it was ‘A’isha who had narrated this: Should I not narrate to you about myself and about the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him)? We said: Yes. She said: When it was my turn for Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) to spend the night with me, he turned his side, put on his mantle and took off his shoes and placed them near his feet, and spread the corner of his shawl on his bed and then lay down till he thought that I had gone to sleep. He took hold of his mantle slowly and put on the shoes slowly, and opened the door and went out and then closed it lightly. I covered my head, put on my veil and tightened my waist wrapper, and then went out following his steps till he reached Baqi’. He stood there and he stood for a long time. He then lifted his hands three times, and then returned and I also returned. He hastened his steps and I also hastened my steps. He ran and I too ran. He came (to the house) and I also came (to the house). I, however, preceded him and I entered (the house), and as I lay down in the bed, he (the Holy Prophet) entered the (house), and said: Why is it, O ‘A’isha, that you are out of breath? I said: There is nothing. He said: Tell me or the Subtle and the Aware would inform me. I said: Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be ransom for you, and then I told him (the whole story). He said: Was it the darkness (of your shadow) that I saw in front of me? I said: Yes. **He struck me on the chest which caused me pain, and then said: Did you think that Allah and His Apostle would deal unjustly with you? **She said: Whatsoever the people conceal, Allah will know it. He said: Gabriel came to me when you saw me. He called me and he concealed it from you. I responded to his call, but I too concealed it from you (for he did not come to you), as you were not fully dressed. I thought that you had gone to sleep, and I did not like to awaken you, fearing that you may be frightened. He (Gabriel) said: Your Lord has commanded you to go to the inhabitants of Baqi’ (to those lying in the graves) and beg pardon for them. I said: Messenger of Allah, how should I pray for them (How should I beg forgiveness for them)? He said: Say, Peace be upon the inhabitants of this city (graveyard) from among the Believers and the Muslims, and may Allah have mercy on those who have gone ahead of us, and those who come later on, and we shall, God willing, join you.

This is an eight minute video worth watching. It is an interview of an ex-muslim arab-american psychiatrist named Wafa Sultan; she was brought up muslim and has since left it.

One of the most poignant comments she made is that it is impossible if one reads the biography of Muhammad and believes in it, and yet emerge a psychologically and mentally healthy person. In her view, islam is not a religion but a totalitarian, political doctrine which imposes itself by force and that any doctrine that whatsoever calls to kill the unbelievers is not a religion. She also states that she believes in Jesus.

She criticises islam because undermines women and is hateful to others. She has been attacked because of this. She quotes from the hadith that ‘a woman’s paradise is under a man’s foot.”

This woman’s life is in great danger for speaking the truth. How much we need to pray for the preseverance of the just.

Peace Kathleen,

I agree with you. How brave is this woman. Free will is God given, yet islam forbids anyone to scrutinize the Koran.

Let us pray for this woman and others like her through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother.

God Bless

i am from Bosnia and there we have catholics, orthodox christians and muslims.I have not yet met a muslim converting to catholicism or orthodoxism…but in my neighbourhood i know 5 converts to islam(former catholics),and we even have famous people converting

Islam is the fastest growing religion, and its enough to write in google fastetst growing religion and you will find the answer islam
How can it be easy to leave Islam if the sentence for apostasy is death? Even if Islam were the fastest growing religion, that does not make it true! The bigger the lie, the more people will believe it. I find it extremely childish of Muslims to use that to prove the validity of Islam.

The prophet of islam did say… anyone who leaves the religion of islam should be put to death.

Here is another interesting video of a saudi news woman who is against the brainwashing of Koranic teachings. It is only 4 min and worth the watch. She is arguing against a man who tries to shame her because she reveals her face on tv.

This is actual footage from arab women conveying their dissatisfaction with the interpretation of the Koran from the male dominated community.

Yes, she’s one courageous lady! Here are some statements of hers:

“When I examined the Koran, the hadith, and the Islamic books under a microscope, I came to the absolute conviction that it is impossible – impossible! – for any human being to read the biography of Muhammad and believe in it, and yet emerge a psychologically and mentally healthy person.”

In speaking of the violence that occurred because of the cartoons, she stated:

“The Muslim is an irrational creature ruled by instincts. Those teachings have deprived him of his mind, incited his emotions, and reduced him to the level of an inferior creature that cannot control himself or react to events rationally.”

Here is the latest on the Aqsa Parvez murder. Her mother thought the father was only “going to break her arms and legs”!

Here are some of the problems of “multiculturalism” and thinking that others’ values are the same as ours.
Picture of the Week http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/index_files/ebrahimi.jpg
This family of immigrants to multicultural Canada was hailed
as an example of Islamic compatibility with Western values -
up until last Sunday, when the teen girl on the left was stabbed
by her mother for shaming the family by staying out late.

The other children should be removed from the home.

Are these people told when they come into Canada and the US what we will not tolerate? Are they told the consequences of wife and/or child abuse? Are they informed they can go to prison and there is a good chance the kids will be removed from their care if they engage in this behaviour?

Apparently not!

And this kind of thing is very common!

The whole thing is sad… and also…

What gets to me is that the mother thought the father was just going to break her arms & legs…… like saying… it’s OK to do that…!

What kind of mother would allow this.?? Why isn’t she protecting her child from this beast…??

And the brother chimes in the killing… Who in God’s name made these people accuser, judge, jury & executioner…

its very much like when men from these nations are arrested for beating their wives, they really do not understand that they have done something wrong. they think this is normal behavior. Peace 😦

I didn’t know much about Islam until 9/11.

It was so horrific the history of Islam to non-Muslims.

The seculars in the Western governments are working in tandem with the Muslims who want to take over Europe and destroy Christianity. And then everything wrong by the seculars is blamed as Christian.

I have never even known of such behavior. I have read as well that this goes back to tribal Middle Eastern mores BEFORE Islam. Somehow, Islam cannot stop it…and it looks like it has been integrated into Islam in various levels of the MIddle East.

I left my native home over 20 years ago. I recently talked with an old friend. We would talk and share about the world situation in the 80’s. But never in our minds did we see the enemy as foreign desert people coming to our shores and committing such atrocities.

The family looks moderate. But they are still tribal inside. For me, it is the sin of Cain. These problems have never been resolved since ancient times. And now modern and ancient are coming face to face…and the godless are defying Christian values and working with the militant Muslims to overcome our way of life.

There was a terrible demonstration in England this past week…how tolerant these people are…shameful.
