Is it a sin for Catholics to do Yoga?

Official Church exorcists will tell you that playing Ouija boards is often the culprit to demonic manifestations later in life
How would they know? Did the demons tell them? Do they have supernatural knowledge.

This kind of talk gives religion a bad reputation. Show me the evidence. Show me documented studies.

Really…what “official Church exorcists would tell me”? I’m not disputing your claim, but can you reference the statements of these “official Church exorcists” to put it into perspective, or is it an assumption?

Totally. It was also a joke, lighten up Francis.

I have no opinion on whether or not Catholics can/should do yoga as there is no official church teaching on the matter.

Ouija is necromancy (ie contacting the dead)
Necromancy is a form of sorcery
Sorcery is banned by Christians in the bible (see ( Leviticus 19:26 Leviticus 19:31 ; 20:6 ; 1 Sam 28:9 ; Isa 8:19 ; 44:25 ; 57:3 ; Jer 27:9 ; Ezek 22:28 ; Micah 5:12 ; Mal 3:5 ; Exod 22:18 ; Lev 20:27 ; Deut 18:10-11 ).

You, as a bible believing “christian”, of all people should know that.

Twas my friend, twas!

You and I don’t appear to be on the same wavelength when it comes to humor…

Perhaps you are being too much of alarmist? There are far more serious things to worry about today, than a Ouija board.

Simply read the books written by official Catholic exorcists. One common denominator in demonic harassment, obsession and possession is dabbling with the occult; and they specifically warn against the Ouija board, which is the conjuring up of spirits, something the Sacred Scriptures explicitly forbids.

When one makes a habit of living in mortal sin or dabbles int the occult, one opens themselves up to the demonic, simply because you are putting yourself near the wicked spirits.

When mortal sin and evil activities are allowed to be present in one´s soul unrepented and masked by rationalizations, they begin to fester and to develop into all kinds of strange psychological complexes that darken the mind and most often develop into mental problems.

A good analogy is not cleaning your home; soon you have waste and filth attracting all kinds of strange visitors—insects and cockroaches that reproduce and make a home there with you. Untreated it turns into an insalubrious infestation that is very hard to get rid of, carrying all kinds of disease that attack the health of the body. It´s the same thing with the spiritual soul. Mortal sin and dabbling with the occult, which itself is a mortal sin, makes one weak and vulnerable, being that one has put themselves in the devil’s territory— like getting close to a chained wolf that now can bite you.

After casting out a demon, Jesus Himself warned about the unclean spirits that can make their home in your soul:

“When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own house, his possessions are safe. But when someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the armor in which the man trusted and divides up his plunder. . . . “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first.” Luke 11:21-26

When you practice yoga, period…breathing techniques and concentration hardly are sinful.
The specific breathing techniques, concentration methods and poses all make up yoga. Trust the exorcists.

If you ask traditional yogis, they consider the spiritual practice an essential part of yoga. Poses and external techniques as such do not constitute yoga, even if it is often called such in Western countries. External practices are more like a method for forming a particular state of the mind.

The Church has issues warnings about it in the past, for example, Pope John Paul II’s Letter to the Bishops of the Catholic Church dated October 15, 1989. Stating:
Some physical exercises automatically produce a feeling of quiet and relaxation, pleasing sensations, perhaps even phenomena of light and of warmth, which resemble spiritual well-being. To take such feelings for the authentic consolations of the Holy Spirit would be a totally erroneous way of conceiving the spiritual life. Giving them a symbolic significance typical of the mystical experience, when the moral condition of the person concerned does not correspond to such an experience, would represent a kind of mental schizophrenia which could also lead to psychic disturbance and, at times, to moral deviations.

But it has been official Vatican exorcists who have labeled the practice a gateway into demonic deception, being that one opens one’s self up to spiritual influences that are not coming from God.

Here´s a typical western yoga practitioner introducing the very basic first level yoga technique for finding inner peace:

And #28
That does not mean that genuine practices of meditation which come from the Christian East and from the great non-Christian religions, which prove attractive to the man of today who is divided and disoriented, cannot constitute a suitable means of helping the person who prays to come before God with an interior peace, even in the midst of external pressures.

That should settle this debate.

The word Yoga itself means “union with god”. Thus the entire reason yoga exists is to tap into the spirit through the poses which worship pagan gods, meditation techniques and mantras that opens one’s self to the spirit, and breathing patterns that help tap into it. Much like what the occult practice of astral projection does.

To practice yoga and pretend it is simply physical stretching is naive. One can do stretching exercises without practicing yoga, and the only way to do this is to not do yoga…
