In the OP, I brought up the subject of legality. For some, they will not even consider the moraliy of using marijuana unless they can get through this door. Their position is that if it is illegal, it is immoral. Case closed. But the purpose of this thread is NOT to discuss the legality of the use of marijuana, but the morality. So for the sake of discussion, it must be a GIVEN and presumed LEGAL where a person uses marijuana. If that is the case and we have gotten through door #1, lets try to go to door #2.They declared religion illegal in Soviet Russia, does that make religion sinful?
See a couple of posts up by me. I was commenting on the fact that Christians can’t seem to have “fellowship” without eating. What hurts me and my wife is that most of the food provided at these things is stuff we can’t or shouldn’t eat since i have hypoglycemia and my wife has diabetes. People were suggesting we should bring our own things we CAN eat. Hope this brings you up to speed. We are not looking for ecclesiastical hand-outs Please don;t be confused.Huh? Food? Goodies? Ecclesiastical hand-outs? Did I miss something…?![]()
[SIGN]Hi Jeannancy,
I don’t know much about marijuana. In fact I don’t know what it looks like. If a person smokes it, it’s bad, just as regular cigarettes are. Not to mention the cost. And it is not legal, yet. We have a new president.
God bless,

I gotta tell ya, " love your family and friends, lead a decent life, and I’m sure you’ll be fine"I highly doubt it is. As others have said, just because it’s against the law doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad. Ex. southern blacks riding in the front of buses or sitting at lunch counters illegally, alcohol being “ok” to do on Jan. 19 1920 (or whenever it was) but not “ok” to do on Jan. 20 1920, not sinful to shoot off fireworks in one Missouri town but right when you cross the Illinois border it’s not…the list could go on. These examples and others illustrate the ridiculousness of worrying about such a thing. Love your family and friends, lead a decent life, and I’m sure you’ll be fine.
I was also afraid someone might try and pull a “Lee Harvey Oswald” routine. Nancy maybe it was your prayers that kept anything bad from happening! One will never know until eternity.[SIGN]Hi Jean[/SIGN] I hope they never make it legal and I hope obama gets all the help he can get he’s going to need it.The world is a mess and this country has pushed the limit on God and his great mercy and love. Greed is the benifactor, and main street is suffering because of it. I prayed the whole day on the 20th, I was so affraid that something might happen to him. I did not vote him in but it’s in the bible to pray for the leaders of the country. Take care Nancy
by the way… didnt mean to insuate you use pot… was kind of responding to the pot smokers in here in that part of my post. sorry I didnt clarify that. You never said you used pot-I highly doubt it is. I remember there used to be a humorist (I forget his name) who said “Liquor is quicker but pot is not!”by the way… didnt mean to insuate you use pot… was kind of responding to the pot smokers in here in that part of my post. sorry I didnt clarify that. You never said you used pot-
take care…God Bless you
Mary,I gotta tell ya, " love your family and friends, lead a decent life, and I’m sure you’ll be fine"
is not a catholic formula to ensure heaven. Its already been stated in this thread that smoking pot involves you in drug trafficking, this is strickly forbidden by our Church. You can " what if this or what if that " to death- but facts are facts. The same mexican growers more than likely traffic other drugs as well, and possibly people too. you can “what if i grew it myself?” well, do YOU? The Lord wants his servant to be single minded, focused on his will, not getting high or even slightly high to forget about his will. We are, as christians, called to a life of suffering and prayer… eventually we will all suffer- it is the suffering and how we respond to it that purifies us and makes us holy. " what if this and what if that" is speculation and not pertinant to what you are doing NOW. WHY do you want to get high is the question you need to ask yourself…and the hands who brought you this pot- their suppliers… who have they harmed to continue their illegal black market?
Try sticking a book like THAT in your glove compartment!I wish God descended from His Heaven and gave us a rulebook with every last senario and what to do in it (that’d be one big book…).![]()
Actually He DID, the rule book contained only two instructions “Love God & Love Your Neighbor as Yourself” but very few people listened and then they put Him on a cross. So much for rulebooks!I wish God descended from His Heaven and gave us a rulebook with every last senario and what to do in it (that’d be one big book…).![]()
Walking yes playing sports yes listening to good music yes fellowshiping with good people yesMary,
You have a good point that people who smoke pot should examine their conscience as to whether their source of pot participates in the economics of evil. While it is OK to challenge others on how they obtain their pot, it is not right for you to presume how they do. You do not know what you do not know. You can challenge, but only a self-righteous person judges and presumes to know. I am not placing you in that category – just asking you to examine it to see if it applies to you as you have asked others to examine how they obtain pot.
Please correct me if I misunderstand, but it appears to me that you place alcohol in one category and marijuana in another. Moderate, responsible use of alcohol is acceptable behavior and for those who don’t abuse it … and can be a good thing in a person’s life. Do you agree with that or disagree? If you agree with it, please tell me why the same cannot be true of pot smoking? Is the person who partakes in alcohol NOT being single minded in your opinion? If that is the case, do you hold the opinion that the wine Jesus made at the wedding of Cana was only fruit juice? I honestly believe it was real wine – in fact it was quality wine that the guests commented on.
People smoke pot for the same reason some people like to have an alcoholic beverage. It is hypocritical to have a double standard on this in my opinion.
Please correct me where I may have a misunderstanding on what you really do think about the relationship between drinking alcoholic beverages and smoking pot. Thank you.
By the way, did you know that something that is recreational can also be therapeutic?
the topic of the thread is- is it sinful to smoke marijuana? not is marijuana use the same as using alcohol.Mary,

I doubt you could even lift it.Try sticking a book like THAT in your glove compartment!![]()
Yeah, but how do you get “Thou shalt not put thy pot-smoke in thy lungs” from “Love God and Love Thy Neighbour as Thyself”?Actually He DID, the rulebook contained only two instructions “Love God & Love Your Neighbor as Yourself” but very few people listened and then they put Him on a cross.
