Well I am in Western Pa. I think our high is 0 right now. With winds that could probally take me to Fla. right now. But hope to be there soon!:winter: :winter:

Ana:slapfight: glad we got things straight:hug1: Sorry I havent read things or would have responded sooner.

But you do have a good point Ana, and I agree for medical purposes I have no problem. It is just a sore spot for me also. Saw what it can lead to in peoples lives:crying:. Take care all and God Bless in the mean time I will be here:snowing: :winter:

I think the consensus is that smoking pot is sinful. The only argument against that position was one that didn’t provide any support for the opposition as it was completely anecdotal.

I continue to stick by everything I stated and am willing to provide explanations or support.

And I think the act of smoking pot in itself is not so black and white. There are many factors that need to be considered and weighed for each individual.

in general those of us with significant experience find it less of a problem than drinking alcohol, and therefore acceptable.

and those with no or little personal experience think it is worse in some way alcohol is not acceptable

the key here is personal experience with the subject.

i also have the sneaking suspicion that age plays a big factor, the older one is the longer that they were exposed to the anti-drug industry propaganda.

the numbers simply don’t support marijuanas harmfulness.

no overdoses, ever.

no car accidents.

no violent stoner fights

stoners dont beat their wife and kids

you dont wake up with a hangover, or strangers

there are no widespread twelve step programs, like AA

the only argument as to its sinfulness in comparison to other common practices seems to be its legality.

so i could simply go where it is legal to avoid that, so its not a reasonable argument on that basis.

bottom line is if moderate drinking is ok, so is smoking a bowl.

“Is it a sin or sinful to smoke marijuana?”

Definitely. Doing so hurts society because it’s illegal. It hurts the smoker, because it’s so toxic (one joint is equivalent to four packs of cigarettes). It hurts the smoker’s family, because he becomes a hopeless addict who spends the rest of his life deluding himself that it’s ‘okay’, and arguing with the whole world that it should be legalized. Meanwhile, his entire life deteriorates into mush, thanks to his addiction. Marijuana is a curse upon society that must be eradicated, patiently, but *thoroughly. * Sadly, there is no one more hopeless than the deliberate marijuana addict.

I have the same suspicion about experience and how that effects someone’s position.

As far as age, I am 52 and don’t think you can say that about me.

yeah, thats about the break even age in my family for smokers. im 35 and my uncles and aunts are mid fifties now, and they smoke. though they feel more of a need to hide it.

but thats just one small factor, actual significant experience seems to be the deciding factor.

I am astounded at some of the ignorant things people say on this subject. For instance in a few posts earlier this comment was mad - “Sadly, there is no one more hopeless than the deliberate marijuana addict.” I think what is even more sad are those who make absolute and ignorant comments like these. This thread is not about addiction to any substance. It is about moderate and responsible use of marijuana just like alcohol.

.

exactly how is its illegality hurting society?
It hurts the smoker, because it’s so toxic (one joint is equivalent to four packs of cigarettes).
i need more evidence of that, but even if so. one can ingest it in brownies, or tea. those are non harmful ways

how would that harm his family?

.

if true where are all the twelve step programs for all these degenerates. drunks and crackheads have AA and NA?
Marijuana is a curse upon society that must be eradicated, patiently, but *thoroughly. * Sadly, there is no one more hopeless than the deliberate marijuana addict.
funny but the lack of treatment for ‘marijuana addiction’ might be construed as a lack of ‘marijauna adiction’

if it was such a societal problem than wouldnt there be programs like AA and NA for it?

thats why i quit posting much, same wrong arguments endlessly repeated
by people with an opinion but no experience. see ya later:)

What is “moderate and responsible use” of an illegal substance? Just a thought.

It is impossible use an illegal substance resposibly. To be responsible while breaking the law is an oxymoron. So no, it is not like alcohol. Wrong answer, try again.

It is not breaking the law where it is medicinally legal. That type of responsible use is a given in this discussion. The kind of responsible use I am referring to … is how much a person uses and when it is used. I don’t think I’d want to be in a plane if the pilot and co-pilot were passing around a bong and starting to slober on themselves.
