Is it a sin or sinful to smoke marijuana?

I don’t smoke a whole joint. One to three tokes is my norm. Then I put it out and relight it as needed. Or a bowl works just as well. I guess there are those that don’t know when to stop drinking as well, but many times they are dealing with a physical addiction to alochol, which is IMPOSSIBLE with marijuana. So you can stop doubting now.
Ana, I get a kick out of some of your posts in this thread. 😃 But, I have to tell you this “denial” is not a river in Egypt.

The addictiveness of “reefer” or “grass” or whatever you want to call it nowadays is not so much physical as it is psychological, and it is addictive psychologically… marijuanaaddiction.info/ Do a little reading and you will find out about it. addiction-dirkh.blogspot.com/2007/05/is-marijuana-addictive.html Keep in mind the people at “High Times” aren’t exactly “experts”…

If all you want to eat is “an extra slice of pizza”, then I gotta tell you…you’re getting “ripped off”, “hosed” and “taken to the cleaners” by your “dealer”…

Been there, done that. Don’t do it no more, in fact, haven’t done it in over 30+ years…

can one smoke pot without becoming inebriated?
Yes, but I would have to say that it would be very low quality trash on the order of ground oregano. A “pin-joint” of good reefer will lay waste to a couple of people.
if so, then smoking pot might not be gravely sinful. if on the other hand, pot smoking always leads to intoxication, then it’s always sinful to smoke pot. that being said, the line between responsible use and irresponsible use of a substance is fuzzy.
I think more than the issue of sin, is the worry or the problem if caught with it depending on where, and the quantity. Sin is the least of your problem sometimes.
one beer or glass a wine certainly has an effect on a empty stomach. doesn’t make you inebriated though.
True enough…but even then, that depends on the individual.

given my body weight it would only take two glasses of wine to lose my license and a recieve a host of other fines…and if i was consuming those two glasses of wine regually(sic)i wouldn’t feel the impairing effects of the wine…
since i am barely even a social drinker one drink does have the same level of impairment as one third of a normal joint.

Hi, repeatedly in my posts I have emphasized that I am referring to one or two drinks. The effect of one or two drinks consumed over a time (not guzzled) is mild compared to the altered state caused by marijuana.
And I am telling you IT IS NOT!! Have you ever smoked? You do realize that the differance between one or two drinks and the whole bottle can’t be compared with a couple of puffs to the whole joint.

If you wanted to do a puff to drink ratio, then alcohol is BY FAR the more dangerous and mind altering substance.

If you are going to compare moderate use of alcohol, it shouldbe compared to moderate use of marijuana, not overindulgence.

One or two tokes does NOT ALTER OR IMPAIR ABILITY TO MAKE DECISIONS< PARENT< DRIVE< BREATHEWRITE A POEM>PRAY<COOK<GO TO CHURCH<WALK STRAIGHT ETC. ETC

That my friend depends on how you look at it…as in “perspective-wise”. Consider the “head” that “cops” a “nickle bag or a lid” at an exorbitant price…just to get a buzz, and forgets he’s got a family to feed… Or the “head” who cops a “nickle bag or a lid” and is too busy getting high to worry about paying rent or bills that are legal obligations? Therein lies the sin… You have to look beyond the well-off single person without a care or responsibility in the world…who can do whatever…

.
in the context presented here yes it would be sinful…
just as it would be sinful for the speed junkie(drag racer) to buy a part for his car while his family needs the necessities of life.

The same applies to me as well. I can smell the cork and I start to feel woozy.

Having “significant experience” in this area years ago, I can tell you this…if you are doing a couple of “tokes” on the joint and not getting a good buzz, you are wasting your time and money. The trash you are smoking probably wouldn’t rate a bust based on a pound of it. Probably the male plant…lots of that grows on the roadsides in Kansas… But I can tell you this…if it was “good stuff” with a high THC factor, the comparison between a quart of beer or cheap wine, like Thunderbird, Mad Dog, or Tokay, versus one good joint…just 2 or three hits on a good joint would negate any need for alcohol. All you would want is either a really big cheesy gooey pizza of a 5 pound bag of chips.
If you wanted to do a puff to drink ratio, then alcohol is BY FAR the more dangerous and mind altering substance.
That depend entirely on who, what, when, and where…

No such thing. You’re trying to use an apples versus yugos argument.

If you’re paying for trash cut with oregano or just really lousy stuff, you could smoke an entire pound of it and still not get a buzz…you could do all of the above, but if you are smoking good stuff and you are driving anywhere other than a 40 acre pasture…you are an accident waiting to happen…death on the move, unless you are totally surrounded by other stoners… Write a poem? Meandering words on paper a poem does not make… Make decisions? 😃 Like how many pizzas do I order, if I can find the number for the pizza place, oh wait, its in my speed-dial, whooops which button is it?😃 😃 😃 Walk “straight”, no…you always go “forward” never straight. Right?

In this topic I am always referring to the typical altered state of marijuana use and not an obscure usage whereby the drug doesn’t have its typical effect. With marijuana, it’s more of an on/off situation than alcohol. Alcohol’s effects increase linearly with consumption.

Rob i hate to tell yuh but the stuff out there today is way better then the grass you had…if i smoked what i have now when i started,it would have been puddle time for me(melted)…some people have never learned how to "handle " their smoke…one can choose to sit back and enjoy the ride or be in control of it…
perhaps you are coming from the way you used in the past(just as i did)party time.

I spent two and a half years in SE Asia…Vietnam, and I seriously doubt that anything on the street, that is to say “unaltered” by other artificial substances, would be better than what we had over there. I tried some of the stuff after I got back…gave it up, partly because of my job, but mostly because what was available was worthless…

Generally speaking…the stuff over there, one pin joint could “wreck” three guys… You didn’t dare laugh…if you got started you couldn’t stop…it would get painful… It was not “controllable”.

Control…is something of an illusion…much like the passage of time when you’re stoned…

i spent less on weed than i did on cigarettes before i stopped smoking, and thats smoking everyday, i dont know anyone who scores at the expense of his family, i am sure there is some idiot who does, but i know lots of alcoholics who do.
But for all the jokes in the world, like "When was the last time you saw a “head” get in a fight with another “head”? And “when was the last time you saw a “head” get a speeding ticket”? Whoa, dude, don’t bogart that joint!! The reality of it all is this… if its a sin, its a sin because they who make it a point to spend their money on substances that diminish inhibitions and ambitions are guilty of harming themselves and others by their actions. No, the harm doesn’t have to be physical, it can be social, or economic,.
Beyond the fact that one who only has one or two drinks occasionally does not create a health crisis, the simple fact is that the Federal government imposed “Prohibition” on the entire country, which failed, and they woke up to the fact that they were losing billions of dollars in tax revenues. thefreemanonline.org/columns/thoughts-on-freedom-alcohol-prohibition-and-the-revenuers/
Simply put… grass is too easy to grow, and it would really be difficult to tax or rather collect the taxes. Distilling liquor in your backyard or garage is no easy ride in the park…
Yes, to those with a brain, but politicians don’t necessarily have brains, and are less concerned about “morals” than they are about “tax revenues”. If they were really concerned about public health, safety and welfare, there would be no tobacco products sold, or anything with alcohol in it.
Its all about the “money”, aka “tax revenues”. Morals has nothing to do with it.
BTW…if some of my comments seem dated…they probably are. I’m 58, a child of the 60’s…been there, done it.
i agree with most of the rest

Hi, agreed but I am referring to moderate alcohol. One can behave in a very civilized manner after sipping two glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon. 🙂

I saw a study that said the brain can be damaged by marijuana. It may have referred to the hippocampus and amygdala.

Ultimately, I recommend discernment and prayer.
and i have seen studies that deny it, from personal experience i can tell you thats not true

Absiolutely not. Anti-drug laws are to protect public health and safety. Keeping drugs illegal is for the common good (or did you just skip over those words?), and therfore just laws, and we are bound to obey them.
BRAVO!!
😃

Making wine is easy (the process, not making good wine). I’ve made a few bottles. I would do more, but I don’t make very good wine:(

It’s very had to control the variables without the right equipment, time, and knowledge to be worth it in my opinion. Some could, I can’t.

I’ve heard of people who make beer, too.

Aside from who smoked the best pot dialogue …

You’re talking about the “giggles.” You’re right it is painful, and fun … but that’s also something that comes from getting stoned, or wrecked, or trashed or whatever you want to call it. Like getting drunk.

You can smoke pot without getting wasted. When you have self control then your next sentence doesn’t apply.
Control…is something of an illusion…much like the passage of time when you’re stoned…

I know with decent pot, 3 hits AND I’m as stoned as I’ll be all night… spending the rest of the night keeping that buzz…

say what you will, but the very effort in this discussion by the stoners represents an alternative resolve to serving our Lord. Getting trashed- or getting a buzz, they both serve the same purpose- a selfish escape that does not represent a selfless soul.

a friend and i make muscadine wine way back in the woods along the Mississippi river, plastic food grade barrels, and keeping everything sterile seems to give the best result amateurs will make, it aint no chateaus fancypants, but it aint gonna kick ya in the head like home stilled whiskey either, good enough for a bunch of friends and a pig roast.🙂 now he put up a couple of barrels of mead before we even met, and we just cracked the first one a couple years ago, i have never paid money for a better drink, it is light, sweet, no alcohol taste to speak of, but will kick like a mule. good mead will put you off any other drink, but it takes along time and honey to make it is expensive right now,

God has a plan for u, Right.
He has a plan that this man should live for 100 years, loving his wife, caring his son/daughter…
But by using drugs the man fails to to live.He dies by 40.
Do man have right to change god’s plan???
It naturally becomes a sin.

actually (can’t find it,too lazy to look hard enough maybe:D )but wasn’t there something in the OT alluding to 80yrs or so?and no not every single person is destined to live to 100yrs old…we are allotted x days by the Lord to each He gives what He wills…

something for all us recreactional users here, just how much do we spend on this recreaction a yr.could it not be instead funeled into something more meaningful?just a dollar a day??
