Hello and Happy New year.
Just as everything should, marijuana smoking should be kept in moderation. You can watch too much tv, eat too much food, and smoke marijuana too often.
Im not sure why people are using alcohol as a control for this debate, I guess because of legality? Regardless, both are drugs. Alcohol is not always recognized as a drug because of the social acceptance, but it is a drug.
Excessive alcohol drinking has been shown to cause damage…Addictions can occur. You can be addicted to marijuana in a mental sense, just as you can be mentally addicted to watching tv, internet, sex, etc.
Unlike alcohol, marijuana has failed to show neither the killing of brain cells nor lung cancer. If It is not damaging to your body why would it make it wrong? Of course inhaling a lot of smoke at once can be unhealthy, oral administration is an effective method.
While high on marijuana, normally you can make decisions and function normally. Alcohol impairs your decision making ability much more than marijuana. I think that it is sinful to use being high on marijuana as a safety blanket for your actions. You know what you are doing, and you choose to do it anyway.
Of course these ideals are not universal to every set and setting. Intention plays a big role in the morality of smoking marijuana. If the intention is to smoke a modest ammount of marijuana, watch a movie then go to sleep, I can’t see any harm done.
These are just my thoughts on the matter.
