Preferably onto a surface that s/he can’t scratch too harshly . . . Your favorite sofa is a bad idea.

Frankly, I think you were courageous for picking up the vicious feline in the first place.

I wouldn’t abandon a cat here in Australia as it’s illegal and irresponsible ,that’s the short an long of it .
We have strays that come every year ,mostly battered Toms you couldn’t get near ,a result of someone having dumped a cat ,it’s parents .
I also see city cats that get dumped ,pretty things on the roadside one day ,dead the next. The ones that do adapt can live under buildings, down rabbit holes .

I think you’re too worried about categorizing the sin. Figure out what your best option is and do that.

Very important to bend those knees, especially if you forgot to trim his paw nails. 🙂

I gave up earlier when I watched it change “housecat” to “housecoat” in front of my eyes (which did again for this sentence!)

I don’t even own a housecoat that I potentially could abandon, but if I did, giving it to the St. Vincent de Paul Society Thrift Store would be a best option, so long as it was not too worn.

Abandoning animals is not a good thing. I have adopted dogs who were abandoned. If you abandon a cat, he could be victimized by cruel people, or he could be involved in problems with other animals. If he is big and older, it sounds like he won’t be around too long. I would think making his life comfortable would be a good thing.

Also people who abandon their pets are irresponsible.

Yes, this cat had to be put down after other incidents
Hold cat with arms 3/4 extended, and bend your need as you lower him.
So, considering the context of what you were talking about, do you say that expressions such as " to put down a cat" or " this cat had to be put down" do not mean to put the animal to death?

We were being facetious and punny. I apologize. CAF Old Timers get this way, and I lost sight that you are the OP.

No, it’s not OK to put down a cat for “naughty things.” Domestic animals are generally put down, (i.e. euthanized), in cases of extreme aggression and/or terminal illness.

Have you called animal control yet?

Consistency is the hobgoblin of weak minds 😜🤣

Be a good steward for all animals, as best you are able, within reason. I think even animals are owed some degree of compassion.

This is part of Jewish teaching as well. It is said our pets (not only cats) will testify either for or against us in the heavenly tribunal. In general, kindness to animals is of great importance.

There’s really no reason not to have both serious and tongue in cheek responses to the same issue . . . I don’t think that this is tied to the east/west differences on whether everything needs to be defined and nailed down . . . but maybe it both is and isn’t 😜🤣

Nailing down an innocent cat is beyond cruel, IMO. I hope you were just joking.
