Is it a sin to commit suicide?

Because God’s ways are not our ways. He is ultimately concerned with our sanctification and spending eternity with Him. He knows what we need best for our ultimate happiness for eternity, but He gives us free will to accept or to reject the cross.

That’s all well and good, but I have to get through this life before I worry about the next one.
 
Please never forget how we each can help each to avoid this, There was a case a few weeks ago here in Limerick Ireland. One of the bridges there is a “favourite” suicide place and there are volunteers, God love them, who patrol the bridge ready to intervene. A teenage girl saw a man climbing the railings and she grabbed his legs and just hung on. Would not let go. The terrible thing was that pasing cars stopped to gawp but none helped. Is that not the reality we face? She talked him down as she hung on to his legs and called for help. he was saved. Be aware of darkness in those around you, please, and do not think it takes a great amount to stop someone. I have done it online. The impulse is so strong that it does burn our and yes I have been there myself and know that you just hang on in there. Call someone, even if they never realise how bad you are feeling. Making that contact outside yourself…
