 I know that we should love our neighbor (everyone). I also know anger is one of the seven deadly sins. I also know that the bible says that hate without REASON can send one to hell. However the modern use of the word “Hate” is a strong way to say that you don’t like someone/thing. People say they hate someone however it does not mean in any way that they do not love them. (Parents and Children) Anger as well is an emotion and a way of expressing emotion and with moderation just like gluttony how can this be sinful. I would never hurt the person or wish harm on them but i feel it necessary to say what i feel. Any other words such as “the utmost contempt” mean the same thing. So would it be sinful to tell the person how i feel?

I do not lack self restraint I have been holding this in and biding my tongue for one full semester of school and I have this teacher next semester. I have even endured being ignored when my hand is up and I am the main one contributing to the class. I also do not have a hatred for hard work that is one of the reasons i don’t like this class i learn nothing and the only reason i come is for my grade (I have a B+/A- so far). What should I do letting it go is not an option anymore and I still have to be respectful of the teacher.

😉 As long as you are not in my husband’s class then sure, go ahead and hate the teacher!😉

Is it a sin? Possibly. Is it mortal? Doubtful.

What you need to do is get through this class, so keep your beak buttoned other than making reasonable contributions to the class. If you can’t do that, while there is still time, why don’t you drop this class and find another one? Telling the instructor off is not going to help matters as far as your grade goes. Teachers are human, after all, and there might be a natural consequence to your actions.

Pray for them…you’ll be amazed how differently you’ll start to feel. Also, thank God for putting this person in your life. They may help you get to Heaven, by really allowing you to “love your enemy”!

God Bless,
Gary

doesn’t sound like ‘hate’ per se, sounds more like a lack of respect…or a lack of connection on the part of the teacher to you, so you feel perhaps ignored or rejected. Maybe try to talk to the teacher after school, to get to know this person better. Sometimes, all it takes is just one conversation to change everything…🙂

To say it to us? Probably not. To say it to your teacher? Well …

Not necessarily sinful, but it certainly wouldn’t achieve anything productive.

Do talk to the teacher, of course, but keep the discussion about the things the person is doing and not about themselves. And avoid the ‘h’ word - to describe either person or deed - in such a situation, it’s just too inflammatory.

Wait a moment, he ignores you when you ‘are the main one contributing to the class’? Maybe he’s trying to give someone else a chance to contribute because you ‘contribute’ a bit too often or in a way that sounds condescending ‘I don’t like this class I learn nothing and the only reason I come is for my grade.’

If you truly think that you are not learning anything, you should have withdrawn from the class, or if it’s required, try to do some research or extra study on your own so that you DO feel like you’re getting ‘something’ out of it and you do not have a hatred for hard work. Feeling challenged is something you may have work out for yourself.

If he truly is a poor instructor, you can always file a concern with the Dean or Principal. Oh, and pray for him. God can help you with your attitude and him with his teaching. Not everyone learns the same way, and perhaps his style is not suited to you, but God can help you learn from this in case it happens again-perhaps with an employer or other situation…:gopray2:

I think what you feel more than anything is great hurt…and so would any of us considering what you describe.

You know, as you say you’re the one who most contributes to the class, do you think it’s possible that your teacher ignore your hand because he/she wants to encourage the less enthusiastic and less involved students, rather than sleighting you? This is the most likely reason, you know. It’s not against you, but in the hopeful intention of getting the others to contribute more…it may not happen, but the teacher has to give them that chance.

It’s very frustrating if you know the best response and have the knowledge, and it is hurtful to be overlooked…
Would you have the courage, and is your teacher of too abrupt a nature to be able to quietly tell that you are confused as to why you are often ignored when you put your hand up? But Love, I think you can be 99.9 percent sure it’s the reason I gave you.

It’s fantastic you are getting such great results! Your’re intelligent, and you work hard. Wonderful…so you don’t need all the help the other students need. You’re a self-starter. You will do well. The teacher is looking across at others who worry him/her, regarding their learning and their future.

About your feelings. Feelings are natural. It’s only when you let them become obsessive and let them cloud your life, and only when you wish evil or do evil or harm to anyone that your feelings turn into something sinful.
You have these uncomfortable feelings.
If you can’t handle your feelings and you feel you must speak to your teacher…and depending on his/her personality that could backfire or not…you don’t need to say you have contempt etc, only how it makes you feel, and ask ask if he/she can explain since it’s hurtful to you.

Wishing you the very best.

God grant you peace and success, and a life lived in His love!

There is no reason you have to tell the teacher how you feel. This is not for the rest of your life, you know, only one more semester, and then you are done with the teacher for the rest of your life. But this is not the last time you are going to run into such a situation–someday you may have to work day after day with a person you can’t stand, and you are going to have to learn how to tolerate them, even if you feel like lamblasting them. So you might as well get ready for the real world now. You can’t spend the rest of your life telling off people you don’t like (well, you can, but you would soon earn an unsavory reputation). Find another outlet for your pent-up anger, like physical exercise, or blow off some steam with a good friend, or better yet, go to Adoration and have a talk with the Lord.
