I don’t know whether it is a mortal sin, but, as far as I know, it is a venial sin because people who watch it are spending their time with something offensive to God. Besides, most movies (not only horror ones) may have a strong impact in our souls for they are tainted with anti-catholicism and bad philosophy.

Instead, we should work hard to do our earthly duties and get to know, love amd serve God.

Since the priest who told me about this is involved in exorcisms and healing in the diocese, I tend to believe what he says.
And yet in your earlier post, you weren’t sure you believed his words in the particular instance, just that you wouldn’t test it.

I’m drawn to the classic horror films myself. They’re fun to watch. But if I know someone who’s worked on a more current production, TV or cinema, I’ll watch as a favor to them.

As long as one knows where to draw the line and doesn’t take it seriously, there’s no harm in it as a form of entertainment. Watching horror movies can also be therapeutic.

So…if I watch a movie with Blake Lively, she might jump out of the tv and hang around?

Just, uh…curious.

How old are you? If you’re an adult you need to make your own decisions about what media you consume, not just take grandma’s superstitious theories as gospel.

As an aside, if every “I heard an exorcist say…” story that gets repeated around here were true, you’d get possessed by brushing your teeth. It’s like the CAF equivalent of “‘My buddy’s sister’s dog groomer’s aunt said…”

Uh-huh, I’m “NOT SURE” that I believe one can be possessed through objects, however, because of his 30+ years of experiences, and knowing that HE believes this, I “TEND TO” move in that direction, and… I’m not going to test it.
