Is it acceptable to use incense at home?

Hello.
I’m a bit confused. Traditionally, my family has used incense (frankinsense) at home during prayer. After reading some scriptures, I get the impression it should not be used. Is it ok? If it is what is the correct incense to be used?

Just to clarify, I asked the question because traditionally it seems to be fine in church, however, while reading scriptures I get confused if there are only certain times that it should be used. There are many reasons but the one I can think of off the top of my head is that Frankincense and Myrrh were two of the gifts brought to baby Jesus by the Magi.

Of course you can use incense, of any type, at home. Personally, I love the smell of incense, and i use it frequently. I especially love the Church style incense, and use that occasionally.

It is not a sacrament, it is at most a “Sacramental”, which can be used to enhance prayer.

But, there is nothing inherently sacred about incense, many cultures have used it for centuries.

Well, “ultimately’” incense is a symbol of our prayers ascending to God. See the book of Revelation for several references to this. The Jews used incense in their Temple worship, as well.

Since when should the catholic mass make it comfortable for non-catholics?? We shouldnt be compremising to make it comfortable for other people

This has piqued my interest - I’d never thought of using incense at home - the most I’ve ever heard of at home is little incense cones that my wife puts on (or did, before we had a daughter with small fingers and a big mouth).

Does anyone have a link for a small home censer and suitable incense (grains?)

All of my searches have turned up incense sticks and holders, which will of course generate the smoke and a smell, but I would like to emulate the smell of liturgical incense.

Incense itself is widely available. So are coals. One could even ask the sacristan.

This isn’t why it was done. Often times it was cut back on due to people, Catholic and non-Catholic with severe respiratory issues. It was so all could participate in the Mass. Yes, I know of one person who becomes so sick that she literally cannot attend any of the Tridiuum Masses due to her not being able to breath. She has to have Eucharist brought to her at home. The priest is well aware of this issue and

I use inscense sticks alot at home just because I like the smell. I have tonnes of them. I buy them and my friends buy them for me. Infact yesterday my friend bought me some. I didn’t know people used them as part of prayer
