How high do you hem your pants? The only time I see pants not reach the shoes is on boys growing like weeds whose parents haven’t managed to get the next size up yet (and I almost never even see that). Or how close to the ground does the cassock go? Maybe they wear them high at my church, but the altar boys’ pants all show under the cassock, and when they are sitting, even more so. It definitely would not be “fakeable” with the cassocks I see at my church. I assumed that if the OP is concerned with how jeans would look under the cassock, then it must be high enough to show a fair amount of jeans. Knowing that men don’t show their ankles or lower legs when they wear pants, if I saw ankles and lower legs, it would look wrong to me. I would expect to see black socks covered by black pants, or I would expect a person wearing shorts to have short white socks. If I found out that this was the normal dress for the priests, I would still think it was a little odd for a lay person to do the same. Not that I couldn’t be corrected or instructed about the rules of how they should dress, but I definitely would notice mere socks (I’m sure not everyone one), and I would be confused by it, or would think it a little strange.
I guess I’m alone here, but it seems unbelievably tacky.

Our priest would wear black shorts. How do I know? When he would bend forward for the Confiteor, the back of his cassock and alb would raise exposing his bare calves and socks that wouldn’t stay up. Also every time he genuflected his bare legs would show. When he’d climb the steps to go up to the altar it exposed his leg and shorts from the side.As long as your lack of pants could not be seen by anyone else, no I don’t think it should be an issue.

No. A cassock is a type of long coat, not a dress/robe in that sense. Those who wear them and have a sense of aesthetics will usually wear cropped pants underneath. Sometimes they wear full pants on particularly cold/snowy days.

I get miserable as soon as the temps get over 85!Maybe their congregation is always praying for them thus they’re getting a lot of spiritual support to give them to strength to cope with heat on those levels. I know I’d be praying for any priest I saw [even ones I didn’t know by name] that I saw wearing the black clerical shirt and black slacks in unbearably high heat levels.
