Yes, but he took out 7 books later…
Now you’re into topic creep. That said, Luther’s translation had/ has 74 books. It includes all 73 of the books typically found in a western Bible plus the Prayer of Manasseh.
even if he was supporting the doctrine of the Eucharist here, to me it seems somewhat hypocritical to say this and then advocate for getting rid of sections of scripture
As you can see, it is important to have the facts right. Luther stated his opinion on the Deutero-Canonical books as well as others. Cardinal Cajetan held very similar views, yet I would never call his belief hypocritical because of his belief in the doctrine.

I’ve enjoyed our sidebar, but we are veering off topic.

So your church uses 74 books of the bible?

(we’ve already done topic creep to martin luther)

lol. You are correct about topic creep.

Lutherans have, historically, used the DCs in the lectionary and hymnody. How much varies depending on synod and country.
Personally, I regularly use the Prayer of Manasseh in Lenten devotions and prayer. I also occasionally read from Wisdom, and Ecclesiasticus

The distinction Lutherans make is that we won’t use the DCs as a source to determine doctrine.
