Is it ok to lie if someone asks if their hair looks good?

I totally get that kind of dressing room banter with good friends.

I think more people have a problem with a casual friend asking how they look after they’ve already purchased the outfit/had the haircut/dyed the hair/gotten the tattoo or something else that might be (semi)permanent and not very attractive. People wonder how to respond charitably in those situations without being dishonest.

I heard on a sit-com once-“I Love Lucy”- Lucy was asked what she thought of another woman’s hat. Lucy hated it. But told her friend, “well , if that’s the kind of hat you like, you sure picked a good one”!

And they will persist, like you said. I’d be like," i’ll give you one answer, and that’s it!" I’ve never been good at this kind, and some people know me better than to ask! Is it easy for you?

I’m not sure they even believe an answer like “I love it”! And they want to hear that
