Is it ok to say the rosary just once a day?

Oh, that’s clever. I usually just use my fingers and tap them on the wheel.
After you have said many Rosaries and Divine Mercies, you can usually just keep track by your rhythm of where you are in the decade, similar to keeping track of a musical sequence.

I do have a problem with the DM’s keeping track of decades because there are no Mysteries to focus on, so I forget whether I just prayed Second Decade or Third Decade. I try to announce loudly to myself at the beginning, “Third Decade” but I still often forget and so I’m sure I have said many 6-decade DMs as I err on the side of an extra decade if I’m not sure.

I work full time and in my free time during the week, say short prayers and do my spiritual reading. Rosary is reserved for the weekend. I believe you are doing better than most 🙂

To be a faithful Catholic, you need never offer a single Rosary. What is wrong with one per day? If you miss a day, you are not going to hell!

God is the Father of peace, not of anxiety. It is the enemy who plants the seeds of doubt.

If I’m in the car when it comes time, I say it in the car. If I’m out with hubby or son and it is almost time and we are at our destination I stay in car until I say it.

People say all sorts of things. There are people who claim Jesus appeared to them in the form of a potato chip. Unless it’s an official teaching of the church, you don’t have to buy whatever some random person tells you. One of the missions of the church is to vet all the random stuff people say about religion (most of which is nonsense or urban legend) and verify what is actually worthy of being taken seriously.

That is just someone’s personal opinion and should not be binding on you.

I have heard of Our Lady recommendation of saying the rosary daily but not 25 hours a day.

Since there are only 24 hours a day, this would be downright impossible and Catholics are not obligated to do the impossible.

The Rosary is an optional devotion. You may receive it once a day, once a week, or not at all. There is no need to be distressed about not reciting it.

that being said… The old saying is still very true… The more the better! 🙂

Wow, I go through times when I say it faithfully and times I don’t say it at all. You make me feel inadequate in my Rosary prayer, lol.

If you say it once a day you are doing a lot better than probably most people since it is not a requirement at all. Stop fretting about it, do it once a day if that is what you can do and if you miss a day don’t beat yourself up over it. Jesus and our Holy Mother know you are doing your best 🙂

This may sound weird, but I think their is a certain beauty in falling a sleep while saying the Rosary. What a way to go to sleep on a good note!

My mother would try to say it every day but usually would fall asleep praying it. This went on for decades.
“For decades.” This one never gets old. 😂
I myself pray the rosary daily when I can, but remembering prayers for meals and at the beginning and end of the day are the only prayer requirements I am aware of. Not including the obligation to serve at the greatest prayer of the Church, the Mass, on Sundays of course.

It’s clearly alright to only say the rosary once a day or not at all, considering that for over half of Christian history, the rosary as we know it didn’t even exist. And Eastern Christianity doesn’t have the rosary as a widespread devotional practice, and yet both Eastern Catholicism and Orthodoxy have produced many, many holy people.

The rosary is a great devotion, and it is to be encouraged. But it’s not the only devotion, nor even the means to our salvation. If we had to choose between saying the rosary round the clock for a lifetime and receiving the Eucharist once, we should opt for the latter. The one prepares us for receiving the grace of God. The other is the grace of God.
