Me and my spouse are married in the Catholic Church. Her menstruations takes near 7 days to pass. Is it OK to use a condom during this situation? And how about when we know or suspect theres a desease present on our sexual organs or fluids and we didnt had time to see a doctor and we want to make love?

Condoms actually do not protect all that well against many diseases. Also, if you are married, how are you going around getting STDs?

P.S. if you know you have a disease and want to take any risk of exposing your spouse, that’s not love, that’s using them for selfish pleasure.

As to the period question, I suppose that’s due to “ick factor” on your part. Man up, dude. If you wanna surf the crimson wave, go all the way or stay home.

That’s some pickle. Although I am sure it’s not as rare as one may think.

I would really plan tiresome activities during those days, that way you’ll be to tired and just less inclined.

Also you won’t die if you don’t take care of your wife for seven days.

For some reason I feel it un genuine to want to be in that predicament with your wife, yeah no couples are love making gurus out of the pew, but there’s honestly a decent amount that can go wrong during a time like that. Not that I am advocating for you to not be near your wife, but I think there are genius ways you can come up with being romantic and not riding the crimson wave.

No. Contraception is a moral evil and is never permissible.

You abstain.

Really??? You think you or your wife might have a disease (an STD), but you “don’t have time” to see a doctor??? :bigyikes:

Dude, MAKE TIME. :doh2:

I believe the answer would be no. You need to be open to procreation.

There’s nothing more romantic than your loving husband essentially saying to you, “I wanna be with you, but – gross! Let me put this on so that your icky fluids don’t touch me!

Better idea: Install a huge bathtub, then use it. For all sorts of stuff.

So you can just BATHE in period blood? Yuck. I know the condom use is not permitted, but I don’t see anything insulting about not wanting to get blood all over yourself.

My wife would never permit sex during her period even if I wanted to.

Why? What are her intellectual reasons, i mean philosophical, theological, religious, moral, cultural, social, psychological, scientifical,…etc. What are the fundamental reasons of her choice??? Do you know why??? Do you talk with her on this topic???

How about because for many women, their periods are time of extreme discomfort and they don’t feel well…

And it’s it exactly a time when you feel very sexy. It’s like any other bodily function you can’t control, like a cold with a runny nose, it just feels messy and gross. I mean, it’s BLOOD, and it doesn’t smell very nice either. Not exactly time to light the candles and turn on Barry White.

Yeah, I got a 20 day period. 7 days is not long. 7 days is still within the range of normal. I think you can wait 7 days. Also, get an STD test. You don’t want to get whatever she has and she doesn’t want to get what you have. What if she gets pregnant and the baby gets an STD too, because you were both being irresponsible? Be more responsible for your marriage.

Regardless of the moral issue here, that does not sound very pleasing for your wife.

I have come to realize at this point in my life that the best thing you can do for yourself and your wife (if she is willing), is to simply spend time alone during during the menstruation cycle, cuddling and kissing, but no sex. I have also seen comments elsewhere that both the husband and wife do this primarily nude in the privacy of their bedroom. If you can convince yourself to try this just one time and wait until she has finished her cycle to attempt intercourse, I believe you will find a new passion for each other that you did not know existed.

Ladies, I hope I did not offend any of you here, but this is something that really works and I think most women would be happy to know that their husband was respecting her needs during a most private time.

Jeez, people are so squeamish. You know, only one or two days of a period are really heavy. The other days, it’s not like you’d be turning the water red. Plus, showers work as well as bathtubs in these situations. 😉

Honestly …I guess having five kids and a wife who works three 12 hour overnight shifts a week tends to sharpen a guy’s priorities. Heavy days are out by mutual agreement for us, but the others come down to, “Hmmmm, do I take advantage of my last opportunity for this week, or do I indulge my adolescent aversion to icky girl stuff?”

Speak for yourself, or for your wife. But you don’t speak for me.

The last thing on my mind during my period is sex.

I am okay that each wife is different, that each husband is different and thus that each couple is different. But, in my point of view, each wife, each husband and each couple has a moral obligation, a moral duty to understand why, what are the fundamental reasons?

Theological, religious, cutural, philosophical, spiritual reasons are, per se, irrelevant, not reasonable.

I think that the good reasons are in link with the medical situation in the large meaning (the physiology, the psychology, the pain, the stress, the bad effects).

Wife has to understand why and husband has to be helpful and to be the best friend (a friend, a helper, a nurse, a doctor for his wife, I can say) during these days. Couple has to talk about this situation.
